Ok I'm 13 and when my parents are in bed and I have to go to the  bathroom and the hallway is pitch black I am so scared to  step out and then when i do im afraid to go back to my room after going to the bathroom, and if I do I have to run in and shut the door. I'm fine in the morning  its only at night, I also feel that someone is watching me, or are under my bed. Why please help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi Bubbles, I don't think it's Paranoia in the literal sense, it sounds like you are scared of the dark. That's nothing to be embarrassed about, millions of people are, and not just kids. First and foremost you should ask your parents if they could get a nightlight for the hall and for your room. This would help with the pitch blackness. Also, there are nightlights out there that only turn on when it's dark, and turn off when it's light, which saves power. I don't know if you watch any scary movies late at night, or read scary books, but I would avoid those before bedtime. You might also try not drinking after a certain time in the evening (an hour before bed) & using the restroom right before you go to bed, thus avoiding having to get up to go in the middle of the night. I hope this has been helpful. Just know, you are not alone, a lot of people don't like the dark. I bet if you let one or both of your parents know, they would be happy to figure out a solution, no parent wants their child to be afraid. Good luck!
