I know this sounds weird, but I have fine salt crystals that form directly under and in my eyebrows. It is extremely fine and know that it's salt (don't ask me why...but I tasted it)  I've asked my doctor and he just laughed at me. This phenomenon has been present for years.  I don't sweat a lot and don't find this on any other area of my body.  Is there anyone else who has this problem?

Yes, I noticed this when I was a teenager. I am now a senior citizen. No one ever gave me an answer.

Hi!

The presence of salt crystals in or around the eyebrows can be a sign of a condition known as sweat gland duct obstruction or hypohidrosis. Hypohidrosis is a condition in which the sweat glands are less active than normal or do not function properly, leading to decreased or absent sweating.

When the sweat glands do not function properly, the salt and other minerals that are normally excreted through sweat can build up in and around the sweat gland ducts, leading to the formation of salt crystals.

There are many potential causes of hypohidrosis, including certain medications, nerve damage, and underlying medical conditions such as diabetes, hypothyroidism, and autoimmune disorders. In some cases, the cause may be unknown.

Treatment for hypohidrosis will depend on the underlying cause and may include medications, topical treatments, or lifestyle changes to manage the symptoms.

I had this in my early 20's but it gradually went away and is gone now.

I'm noticing, after reading about this issue, that most, if not all, of us are women? Seems strange. I've had this issue since my 20's and I'm now almost 52. It only happens when I wear makeup, which I've found to be common amongst other women.

I swear I thought I was a freak! I am 52 and just noticed this about 4-5 years ago. At first I thought it was from the setting spray for my makeup or my powder or even dried moisturizer. I felt it one day and it literally felt gritty…like salt…. Naturally, I tasted it (don’t judge me) and it tastes like salt!! I sweat like a normal person sweats, not excessively. This happens all year long whether I am sedentary or active….now I need to figure out why!

Wow, just when I thought I was the only one, lol.

I didn't make the connection with thyroidism, but I had hyperthyroidism 2019 to 2021; this issue started around then.

Good to know it seems to be nothing more than an annoying inconvenience.

Yes I have literally just googled to see why I get it every day. I’m not sweaty anywhere else but sometimes I can even see the tiny sweat beads forming as I’m doing my makeup shortly after washing my face.

Like so many others here, I noticed this weird phenomenon years ago. I’m not dehydrated, I don’t have underlying health conditions, I don’t take any medications, (I stupid healthy, lol), it’s not weather/season or sweat related, it happens in freezing cold and sweltering hot.

After doing some research about my negative blood type, I can’t help wondering if it’s a weird anomaly related to negative blood type. Since the Rh factor (negative) is so rare, (less than 15% of the world population) very little research has been done on people with the Rh factor. There are anecdotal observations that ring true (some kinda put there like increased experience of psy abilities, etc.).
