I went to my optician's to be fitted with a new pair of glasses yesterday because my glasses recently broke. I wear contact lenses but like to have glasses for spare, for when I am at home, and so on. So any way, during the eye exam, the doctor reacted unexpectedly and a bit weirdly. He was not very forthcoming with information and kept switching his statements from saying that everything was fine to saying there was something wrong. Eventually he admitted that he thought I MIGHT have Acanthamoeba Keratitis, something which apparently comes from wearing contact lenses for too long or in the wrong way?? But Acanthamoeba Keratitis is difficult to diagnose, he said. Do I need to trust this doctor? Why is Acanthamoeba Keratitis difficult to diagnose, and how do I get a diagnosis? If I do happen to have it and it goes undiagnosed, what are the possible consequences? I know that I probably shouldn't be, but I am extremely worried about this. So if you know anything about the subject or have any similar experiences, please do tell me all about it. Thanks ever so much!
