I am someone who is very sensitive and reacts to meds very quickly. I have only been on Yaz for 2 days! I woke up tonight with horrible anxiety, muscle pain, eye pain, numbness, and many of the other symptoms that have been described here. I'm glad I found this page. Good-bye Yaz!

I went on Yaz in late November and went off of it in the first week of January. Within that six week period, I experienced overwhelming symptoms of anxiety. It was nothing I had ever gone through before, and it took me almost a month to relaize that it was probably related to this pill. I could not sleep, could not eat, I was dry heaving every morning, all of my work and personal relationships were intensely strained and in some cases severed. I had to talk myself down out of panic attacks just to accomplish oprdinary daily tasks by the end of it. I have been off the pill now for three weeks and I feel almsot back to normal. Reading postings on websights were what clued me in to this pill as the culprit and also what gave me the confidence to relaize that I wasn't just going crazy but that there was something I could do. It is literally the worst thing that I have ever gone through. No joke. If you're going through anything like this, get off of this pill immediately. You're going to be okay.

lulilu, make up your mind, did you go on it in november or february? if you are going to make up a story at least get it straight!!!
girls, the pill isnt candy. its hormonal medicine, it will mess your cycles up.
it is DESIGNED to mimic the hormones present in early pregnancy!!!
taking it makes you temporarily chemically infertile.
IT ISN'T A SWEETIE, ITS HORMONAL MEDICINE.
ALL birth control pills, including yaz, have side effects. they all do the same thing under different brandnames! they contain the same hormones!
the side effects are NOT a result of chemicals in the pill.
the side effects are a result of YOUR BODY'S personal reaction to hormones.
there are NO pills without side effects.
if progesterone and estrogens give you side effects, they will continue to do so when you take the same hormones under a different brand name.

Dear helpisontheway
This is lulilu and I just edited my submission from yesterday. I did in fact go on Yaz in November and quit in January. It was a typo not anything made up. NOT MADE UP. I've never gone on to one of these websights before in my life and I wonder if you're paid to. I had such a terrifyingly violent to this pill that I felt the need to write something about it so that anyone else going through this could have the option of knowing that it's affected other people in similar ways. By the by, I've spoken with two women in the last week who experienced similar symptoms. It's not a "sweet" to be sure, but it's also not supposed to be something that screws with your head the way this pill happened to do to me.

I apologise, we do get people on here who post things to intentionally scare other people. There is an "edit post" option and a "delete post" option that could have let you change your origional post, I suppose if you are new to the site I can't blame you for not seeing it. But it made it look suspicious, as I said before, we do get some malicious posters on here sometimes so we have to keep on our toes at times.
So I do apologise. The whole post wasn't aimed at you. No I am not paid to do this. I'm just a girl in college I'm afraid.

I figured out the edit function now. Glad you're not on the payroll of the pharmaceutical empire. What I have been hearing from women who've undergone similar symptoms is that it is typically the low level dosage pill that's been the culprit. So counterintuitive. And I know everyone's body reacts differently, of course. I was on Ortho 777 for years and never had a problem. Perhaps it's age related too. I was in my early 20's taking 777 with no problem and in my mid thirties now. The two women I spoke with this week had similar experiences in their early 30's as well.

i took yaz for 6 weeks and on thanksgiving day i had a stroke! i was in intensive care for 5 days and was given very little hope to live. i am only 45 years old and a non smoker. i was using yaz to regulate my period not for birth control. they did a procedure to bust the blood clot that was on my brain that caused the stroke. 2 weeks later i had 2 more blood clots that passed through my heart and went to my lungs. i am still struggling to get back to normal. i am taking 6 different medications now and experience lots of pain and have not regained my strength back. the doctors confirmed that the only reason for the stroke was the use of yaz! DO NOT TAKE THIS PILL!!!!!

I was on yaz for about 6 weeks and it was horrible. By the 5th week I had lost all sex drive and lubrication during sex or anytime for that matter. Now, almost a month later since I have been off yaz, I still have these problems and I have abnormal amounts of vaginal discharge where I sometimes have to wear a tampon to be relieved of it. I dont know how to make this stop but I'm going to the gyno soon so hopefully I will get back to normal.

You should only wear tampons to collect menstrual flow; Discharge wont absorb into the tampon and might result in infection!

I have been using Yaz for a few weeks and I have not experienced any problems. My skin has actually cleared up and I have lost 3-4 pounds. My doctor prescribed it to me because I have severe PMS. After doing research, I found that it also is a diuretic and clears your skin. I my skin has cleared up tremendously!

I been on Yaz for about a week and like everything is fine, I actually feel better if anything all I've really had to deal with was a headache and some munchies. Such horrifying stories about this pill I wonder why im having such a fine time with it? hmm I hope none of that stuff happens to me...

I recently switched from Orthotricyclene Low to Yaz to try to prevent "break through" bleeding mid-cycle. I have never been so hungry in my life. I can eat and then 30 minutes later I'm starving. Anyone else experience this or am I just crazy?

I am very curious about what everyone is saying to yaz. I went on this one by choice but am finding that i am suffering from severe emotional ups and downs, anxiety, panic and then feeling absolutely fine. I keep going back and forth thru the emotions and I have never suffered this before. I see others have been experiencing this as well. Do you think it is from yaz being able to cure pmdd?

Just to give voice for the other side, I've been taking YAZ for about 6 weeks now and when I first started I had major panic attacks daily, sometimes more, and appetite problems (I'd be starving and then nauseous and then crave something desperately and then be sick at the thought of it, etc.), but now they are starting to dissappear. I still have panic attacks occasionally (every 2 or 3 days) and have to work at the appetite thing, but it's not nearly as bad.
