I've been away at college and couldnt get an appointment. thankfully I will be seeing the doctor in two weeks FINALLY! I can;t stand it anymore. I don't have the discharge problem, though. I just havent been able to be intimate with my boyfriend at all.

I am 36 years old- starting into perimenopausal symptoms & heavy - though very regular periods accompanied by a couple of days of severe cramps...Doc prescribed YAZ- for the homrmonal effects to lighten and make less severe periods and help with hot flashes, etc------- DAy 10- and this stuff is GONE!!!! No way I'm gonna keep taking it!!! HEADACHES, NAUSEA, CRYING FITS, DEEP FATIGUE, DEPRESSION- BEEN SPOTTING FOR THE ENTIRE TIME SINCE I HAD MY PERIOD(4 DAYS HEAVY) AND ABSOLUTLY NO SEX DRIVE NOW- MAKES ME NAUSEOUS TO EVEN THINK ABOUT IT-....Thank God my Fiance has been out of town on business the last 8 days! I probly wouldv'e made him crazy too!!! STAY AWAY FROM THIS GARBAGE!!!
(thankfully- i don't have to worry about pregnancy- had a tubal 8 years ago & have 3 kids) anyway- i've been reading SEVERAL of these forums on the YAZ topic-- NO GOOD FROM ANYONE !!!! Better believe I'm gonna inform my doc and whoever else will listen. :!:

i've been on yaz for about 5 months now. in the beginning, i was hardly experiencing any negative side effects, but i've found that in the the past month or two i have been becoming increasingly emotional/anxious and suffering mood swings. i feel like crying at random times for reasons that aren't even really that important. i've also been pretty jealous and sometimes insecure when normally i wouldn't be. i find that i worry a lot and have to talk myself out of emotional lows. my boyfriend has commented on this before, that i seem changed, but i never really thought much of it. however, after reading these reviews, i have been wondering if yaz is the culprit. i have an appointment with my gyno on the 29th and am definitely talking to her about this and possibly switching.

i've been on yaz for 3 cycles now. i'm on my 4th pack. i'm disturbed by some of the things i've noticed and love others... this pill seems to mimick the feeling of pregnancy very very closely for me. i'm worn out, lightheaded, cravings that come and go in a blink of an eye, one minute starving, next nauseus, etc. but my acne has cleared up quite a bit and i'm not getting the same amount of headahces i have on other bcp.... but on the flip side again, i've gained about 15 lbs and am on a constant emotional roller coaster just like when pregnant. ive acted so pregnant at times that my fiance has asked me to go pee on a stick. everything has been negative thus far.
my biggest problem though is the inconsistent cycles. ive never had breakthrouigh bleeding with other pills, but every the first and third cycles i had this and basically no period at all. the 2nd cycle was breakthrough bleeding free, and only a very minimal period.
i can;t figure out what this pill is doing!

I am almost finished with my second pack of Yaz. I have gained weight, my breasts hurt all the time, and I feel extremely fatigued. I switched from Ortho Tri-Cyclen to Yaz because my doc said it may help my skin...I'd been having problems with melasma & some acne. I haven't noticed any change in my skin, so I am going back to the Ortho Tri-Cyclen. Maybe I should give Yaz more time, but I feel like I'm starving all the time! I don't want to gain a bunch of weight for nothing.

As horrible as I hate to hear that you all are having so many problems in a way it's a relief to me, because I thought something was really wrong with me. I'm typically a very laid back person, don't have problems with anxiety and I deal with stress well. I've been a been a trainwreck ever since I started this medication. My anxiety gets so bad that I have trouble breathing and at times I seclude myself from my family, so I don't snap at them {something I rarely used to do}I cry because I get so frustrated and I get annoyed easily. I started YAZ a little over 3 months ago, I spotted for 2 weeks and then had a period when I started the pills you take for 4 days. The second month I spotted for a week again in the middle of the pack, then when it was time for a period, it never came. I just spotted brown for half a day maybe and that was it. Took a couple pregnancy tests and they were negative. i talked to my doc and he said to give it another month. Again the same thing happened with the spotting and no real period.
I even asked my husband last night if he had noticed a change in my personality recently, and he said he defiantly did. That I'm anxious, nervous, jittery, snappy and more moody. I never had PMS to begin with, so I don't know why my doctor put me on this medicine! I've lost a considerable amount of weight and I'm tiny to begin with, so it's definatly not a good thing. My contacts bother me significantly, I feel I'm always putting eye drops in.
The only good thing is that my skin cleared up alot, which i am happy about, but it's not worth my whole personality doing a 360. I'll deal with the acne, I liked who I was before I started this medication, so it has to go!

I have been on Yaz for 5 months now. Every month is getting worse. I have anxiety and SEVERE mood swings!! When I start crying I can't stop! & it happens for no reason!
Lately I have been having stomach issues. My stomach is constantly upset and there is a burning sensation. I am not sure if this has anything to do w/ Yaz.
is anyone else feeling like this????

I've been on Yaz for a month.
I was diagnosed with Poly-Cystic Ovarian Syndrome. I was put on Metformin [an insulin pill] and Yaz to even things out and I was also put on an appetite surpressor [phentermine] to help me start losing weight.
I haven't had really any BIG problems. I've been kind of emotional.. but that's also a side effect of Phentermine. So. I'm not worried about emotionaly problems, as I had them before I even got any of the medicine.
My only problem is I just finished my first pack of pills and I start spotting and then I went into a light period before I even got to the white pills. Then I went straight into another pack. But when I started taking the white pills I started getting a really heavy flow. I felt like I had to go to the restroom all the time. Its not as bad now..
I have PCOS so.. this maybe normal because this is actually my second period ever.. pretty much.. in my life and I am 19.
So. I'm not having any real problems with Yaz. I think my problems are attributed the the fact its my body getting used to being on birth control. rofl.

I have been on Yaz since November of 2006 (So I think that makes it about 5 months now). I haven't had any real problems up until this month. Friends have said I seem moody although I don't recognize it in myself. Before this month, I have had no side effects. Last week my breasts were really sore. That stopped but now today I had spotting. Is it wierd to be normal and then start having problems 4-5 months into taking the pill?
I worry a bit that I might be pregnant although i think there is a very low chance. I have had periods every month and have not had full intercourse since November (and I have always used condoms in addition to birth control) when I started taking the pill. (Although we have had oral sex and things like that) Could these side effects actually be a pregnancy? I have been so careful and the mere thought of taking a pregnancy test freaks me out.
ANy help would be appreciated.

Hey girls! Sounds like we all have the same problem! I have been on YAZ birth control for a month and a half now and this month has been the hardest of my life. This is my first time ever being on birth control and its HORRIBLE! I have had nausea, tiredness, breast tenderness, cramps for the past week and i am like 2 and a half weeks from my period, and it gives you major anxiety! AND DEPRESSION! This has not been a good pill for me. I had such bad cramps in my ovaries, i went to the doctor and they thought it was an appendicitus! Also, this pill is a pregnancy scare pill, it gives you symptoms of pregnanacy! and I'M A VIRGIN! I am on the pill because my period was 14 days long and cramps were so bad, but guess what! They are worse during the whole month! In the pills defense i am not sure if it does this to everybody or this is just my body but i do know that there are other girls who are having similar symptoms, and i am currently not taking the pill and i feel alot better!

I started taking this about two months ago and I feel great. Actually, I feel better then I have in years. I feel normal. I don't get moody or emotional. I feel like I can think about other things than sex... hhaah. My Acne has gone away,my period is only three days. I did have some spotting though, that is usually only when I miss a pill though. I only take the pill for acne & mood stabilization, not for birthcontrol, so I don't worry if I miss it. When I have the spotting. I stop for a few days, then start again and I am fine. I really, really love them though. Maybe it just isn't right for you guys, because it seems like most of you didn't have a preexsisting disorder and it's too much or doesn't work with your chemicals correctly. I would say definitely just use a regular birth control. :-)

I switched from Yasmin to YAZ about 6 weeks ago (hoping for less weight gain) and have come to a shocking discovery. I have recently been diagnosed with SAD and was managing very well with my light box when I switched. For the past 3 to 4 weeks, I have had serious depression, sadness and crying. I could not figure out why my light box wasn't working. (Especially with Daylight Savings Time happening earlier this year!) I was about 2 days away from starting an antidepressant because I was so miserable! I believe that my depression has been caused by YAZ. I am quitting immediately. I hope this helps someone else too. Nothing more useful than other people's collective experience!

I was on Estrostep for a long time but switched to Yaz. I've stopped taking it however because of the MAJOR mood swings I was experiencing. I dealt with depression years ago and I was starting to feel like I was going down that bad road again. It's been 2 weeks since I've taken it but it seems like my symtoms are not going away! Does anyone know how long it may take to start feeling back to normal? I don't have anything to be depressed about, in fact my life has been better than it ever was before?!?! What's wrong with me??

I feel like the odd man out here...
I went on Yaz early February after I had a 9-month hiatus from the birth control pill. I previously suffered from PMDD (and probably still do) and was weaning off Lexapro. I hadn't had a period since I had gotten off the BC Pill and didn't think that was quite normal. I was then diagnosed with PCOS and told by my OBGYN to try YAZ. So far my main issues are the headaches that are pretty much daily, my breast tenderness, (sooo sore) and the fact that I had to switch to daily contacts instead of the normal wear.
I have to say that I am much less emotional than I was when I was on NOTHING and when I was on Loestrin and/or Ortho Tri-Lo. There is MUCH less bloating and hardly any weight gain.
I didn't get my period after the 1st month (kinds worried me), but then into the 2nd week of the 2nd pack I started spotting and that lasted 16 days...no 'real' cycle. I stopped bleeding for a week and just yesterday started spotting again. I have another 5 days left on this 2nd pack, I've made an appointment to see my OBGYN on the 10th, hopefully this is helping and the cyst are gone. From the phone calls that I have had with her she seems to think that I will be symptom free in a few more weeks. We’ll see.

I am 48 and have been using Yaz for 7 months to control abnormal bleeding associated with peri-menopause which resulted in anemia. I am 5'7" and have maintained my weight at 130 - 133 lbs for 15 years. Yaz has made an incredible difference for me in controlling the bleeding. My periods are mostly light, one heavy flow day and last for a total of 3 days. I feel it has helped even out my emotions and I have little or PMS. The 2 side effects I am experiencing are lack of sex drive and an increase in appetite. I have gained 7 lbs -- that's 1 lb per month! I really like that my periods are normal and that I no longer need to worry about anemia, but I do not like the other symptoms. I plan to discus options with my GYN soon.
