For those reading these posts and considering not trying this pill, I need to say a few things in its defense. Before starting Yaz, I tried alesse, Loestrin 24 and Nuvaring. These pills made me nauseous, sick to my stomach, and ridiculously emotional. Nuvaring game me hideous cramps.

YAZ HAS BEEN A LIFESAVER.

I've been on it for 6 months now and I finally feel normal. (I'm 25) No cramps, no weight gain, great skin, I feel healthy! Yes, I have some side effects, but I'm taking hormone pills, who doesnt. I have vaginal dryness and after my 3 day period, I have spotting for another 3-4 days but look, these side effects are nothing in comparison. If your doctor recommends this, try it- I think its worth it

I started taking Yaz 3 days ago. After the first pill, I fell right asleep. When I woke up (8:00PM) that night, I was irritable, nauseated, and dizzy. The next day, I had the BIGGEST migrane ever and I couldn't get rid of it. I was depressed for most of the afternoon, and completely drained... I stayed in bed the ENTIRE day. Today, (day 3) I have absolutely no appetite. My body has been hurting all over... like I've been punched in the back of my thighs, shoulders, and upper & lower back. My arms are tingly and numb. My ankles are sore... and my joints feel so stiff. Help. :-(

Was your lack of mood stabilization before taking yaz associated with polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS)?

Thank you! I haven't had a period for at least 6 months due to PCOS and realize this is associated with my depression issues. I realize those of us with PCOS are different than other women just needing birth control and am supposed to start taking YAZ but have been considering asking my doctor to put me on something else instead after seeing some of these posts. I am curious to read more from you and how you are doing on it at this point? Hope you are well and get a reply!

I started on yaz about two weeks ago and i feel pretty great. No major changes. the first couple of days i had a little bit sadness, but now that has all cleared up.

One thing i have noticed however is that my breasts have grown a cup size in two weeks!!!!! so nuts. hahahaha I liked my sistahs before but i'm just accepting the change. it is what it is.

I have slight bloating but the scale reads like i have lost 4 lbs. eating pattern is normal and no weird cravings.

I don't know, my doctor prescribed me to yaz after not being on birth control for a long long long time. I have irregular periods and she thought this might help. We will see as i progress with the pack.

Different strokes for different folks. You don't know until you try it to see how your body reacts. It's a hormone pill, it will make people react differently. just find the pill or the method that works the best for you. I believe, so far, that Yaz is right for me.

I have been on Yaz for 8 wks. The first month, my period was a little longer than usual, tho not heavier. After my cycle was over I had cramping for one week, intermittent, but that is all. I decided to continue and see what happens for the next period, which will be next week. the only other symptom similar to what everyone else is writing about, is some blurry vision, but not all the time, although it is the one sx i am most concerned about. I am 50 yrs old, no hormonal verification (labs) that I am in menopause yet. However, I will say that the Yaz has relieved my night sweats, cut my hunger for sweets, and has increased my lubrication and sex drive. Also, I was having some similar cramping symptoms one year ago, when on an ortho-novum bc pill (not the low dose) so, i am thinking this is another of the same instance. My gyno thought perhaps it was a spastic bladder, which flares up in some women during their cycle. I will keep you posted on how the next period goes.

I have been on Yaz for two and a half months and I notice that slowly but surely the symptoms I've had in the beginning are decreasing thankfully. (migraines, sensitivity to light, nauseousness, lack of concentration, and depression) I have been informed that it takes your body at least 3 months to get used to the hormones. In that time you don't have to suffer because if you take the right supplements with it they will help....i.e....(folic acid, b-12, and b-6 for depression) and also omega 3 for depression and lack of concentration. I'm hoping that the side effects will subside after three months for the most part. (but yes it is getting better)...most prescription medications take several weeks-months to really get in your system...and unfortunately they all have side effects...for some people yaz may not agree with them...i know i have tried loads of pills that have not agreed with me (i.e...seasonale, micrette, ortho tricyclen lo, etc)...but for others...if the side effects are dealable try to give it some time because if you suffer from PMDD or serious menstrual problems it can be worth it!

I've been taking Yaz for 1 month. I've have had panic attacks many years ago, but now I've experience panic attacks and WORSE! I've reviewed your posts and have the same symptoms as many of you. Where do I start?
Chest pain
Fatigue
Depression
Numbness in my arm
Heart palpitations
Thought I was losing my mind.

Today was the worst and so I went on line to search what was wrong with me. I'm so relieved that I found this site. I am stopping this pill TODAY. I have two kids and I hope I will return to normal to be the mom they always have known.
How does a drug like this get approved? Sure, all drugs have side effects, even aspirin. What's surprising is the number of people who are experiencing these symptoms.

DO NOT TAKE THIS DRUG

I was on yaz for 6 weeks from the end of November -January. In that time I lost all sexual lubrication, sex drive and had increased amounts of discharge. I stopped taking yaz at that time and about one month after I had stopped taking it the walls of my vagina became very swollen. No pain, just inflammed. The vaginal opening is almost non-existant. I have gone to the gyno almost 10 times since then and I still remain a medical mystery. We think it might be a hormone imbalance and hope that it will soon clear up.

I recently started taking Yaz after being on Yasmin for six years. Yaz is the fourth birth control I've been on in the last 14 years. As many others have said, I thought I was going crazy until I found this site. I'm normally a very rational person and since starting Yaz, I feel like I'm bi-polar. I cry constantly and am on an emotional roller coaster day after day. While Yasmin had side effects (slight moodiness, extra sensative at times, hungry) it was only one week out of the month, and was controllable. With Yaz, I feel like I'm completely out of control. Headaches, numbness in my arms, aching legs, vomiting, depression, anxiety, etc. I've stopped taking Yaz as of today and am going back on Yasmin... I want my life back!!!!

Try Loestrin 24, its the only pill that is tested and proven to give shorter lighter periods, tested on women from ages 16-45, and all weights-well up to 250 pounds. Been around for 35-40 years, and is a well trusted and well tested option when it comes to birth control. It is the LOWEST hormone dosage that you can take. ;-)

i have been on yaz for 6 months. the results have been incredible. i had depression, irregular cycles, acne, and severe cramps. since i started taking it my mood is stable and much happier. my cycle is regular and not as long. i have no more break outs and almost no cramping. this is the only birth control i have taken and it actually helps me. i have been on the depo, patch, and 6 different pills. this is the best without negative side effects. i guess this medicine is like most, some people it works wonders while others dont benefit from it at all. usually after 8 weeks you will be able to see how your body responds with it. if you arent benefitting from it you should contact your physician to change to something else. you shouldnt continue to take it. :-D

I am 16 years old and I have been taking Yaz for a little over four months. I have been experiencing many of these same symptoms that many other people that posted have. I've had occasional migranes, and I have been very depressed especially in the past two or three weeks. Since I am normally a very upbeat and happy-go-lucky type of person, this feels a bit weird for me, and it has also affected my social life. I've had severe mood swings, when without taking this pill, I'd have moderate mood swings only a few days before my period and that's it. I do have the stomach problems as well, such as I'll be hungry and end up pigging out, but sometimes I get nauseated and don't feel like eating at all. I haven't had any weight gain, however. I also have had LOTS of crying fits, coming from a person that rarely ever cries. I have told the people close to me about how this medication has affected me, and one has told me that I should be able to control the emotional c**p, but he's a guy and I really don't think he has a clue what this has done to me.

I also had another odd reaction that scared me a little. I missed only one pill, and supposedly you're supposed to only get some of the spotting. However, I got the spotting for a day or so and then I started a period and I am still on it right now. The reason why that scared me so much was because I missed only one pill, and I started another period after only one week of not being on a period.

My mom has called the doctor and talked to a nurse about these problems, and has told her that taking me off the pill while I am still on the "active pills" could actually make my problems even worse.

I also noticed how the people who have posted on this site have had either horrible side effects or have had the pill work perfectly. My theory is that the pill works for people who already have bad mood swings, PMDD, depression, anxiety, etc.
I was perscribed this pill because I had had a severe acne problem, and the Yaz had been proven to both dramatically improve my skin, which it did. People who take this for reasons not so extreme have apparently had more bad side effects than good.

I am going to the doctor on June 5th, and since I printed out the first page of this forum, I plan on showing it to her since I highlighted the symptoms that I also experienced as well. I hope she has some better suggestions, maybe even acne medication, which does not have hormones (thank god).

I'm in the middle of my second pack of Yaz, everything was going well...I haven't gained any weight, I'm not getting zits, and my cramps were a lot better when I got my period. However, I've always been the type of person to be able to control my moodiness (I only got slightly short tempered a couple of days before my period would start). But now I cry a lot...and when I drink a moderate amount of alcohol (I'm 25 y/o) I turn into a crazy maniac. My boyfriend and I rarely fight but he said last night, he thought he was going to have to call a priest for an exorcism. Before Yaz, if I would occasionally get drunk I would be happy...now I think everyone is treating me badly, or my boyfriend isn't talking to me nicely and I have HUGE crying spells.

I would just stop the pill, and or stay away from alcohol...but it's the first BCP that I like, and I'm not sure YAZ is the culpret...I also started on Wellbutrin to help me quit smoking, and Lisinopril for my blood pressure around the same time as YAZ...

So I was just wondering if anyone else has experienced this, as I have...I read some people were having crying spells, and mood swings...but does it get ten thousand times worse with alcohol????

Help - >;) =YAZ + ALCOHOL????
