| Every few months I get this intense pain in my stomach. If I lean up or stand straight extending my torso, it feels like there is a string directly hooked from my belly button to my clitoris. The pain is very sharp and very sudden. It feels like someons is yanking on the "string". Once I lean back down doubled over it does not hurt at all, only when fully extending the body. I am confused as to what this could be. Please reply and let me know what you think. |

| From what i've read, it seems to be from either a. ovulation, or b. pregnancy |

| I get the exact same thing. I have no idea what it is and it has bothered me for years. I'm not ovulating and I'm definitly not pregnant. It only happens when I hyper-extend my torso, or bend the wrong way. Anyone else have any suggestions as to what this could be? |

| Sorry I know this is an old post, but I just got the same exact pain racergurlapril had tonight. Its happend to me before its been a while and I'm not sure what it is either. It can't be ovulation because I just came off my period Saturday and I know I'm not pregnant, I've had it before every now and then. Anyone else no what it is or what causes it??? |

[Sorry, this is also a late post...
You described exactly my pain. I've had these every few months for years. I had them before my oopherectomy and now even after. I had surgery for other reasons, of course. I am replying to say that I get these pains and I have NO female organs, ovaries and all are gone. I use to think it was some how related to my cycle, but not any more.
This probably wasn't much help, but wanted to let you know it's unlikely that it's related to your period. |

So weird. I was searching this exact thing just now. It happened to me last night, after 5 AM.
I was getting up from the chair, as I was getting up this tearing feeling, kind of like a tear-stretch, painful thing....just in the belly button though. I have scar tissue from a minor surgery, laparoscopy,in my belly button, nothing major. Never had this feeling before, just when they did the initial surgery, approx 9 years ago. At first thought maybe appendicitis, but no right sided pain. Then I thought, maybe a hernia....or possibly from the scar tissue. Now, I have no pain at all. After getting up last night, I could not stand straight, or turn myself, or sit, without kind of sliding myself into position, verrrry slow...or the tearing would take place. Like a phantom, it's now gone. Hope it never comes back.
I too would be interested in what this actually is. I will certainly check back again to see if others post. Thank you for reading this. |

| This happens to me one day a month and I have been wondering what it is..Doctors have no idea what I am talking about, so I thought it was just me. You hit the nail on the head referring to it as a "String". That is exactly how I describe it. It pulls extremely sharp from my belly button to my clitoris. If you find out what it could be...please let me know. It is aweful when you don't know it is going to happen. I thought it happens right before I get my period. Thank you racergurlapril. I thought I was the only one that felt the string |

| I'm a guy and this exact feeling happens to me. It stretches from my belly button and down to my penis. It happens to me after I bench press much more than I should, so I'm guessing it must be some sort of abdominal strain. I felt this same feeling and did nothing about it but then one day I got a hernia and required surgery. So now I don't bench more than I should and I stretch my abdominal muscles before I do bench. |

OMG I have the same thing happen to me. I had this happen a lot when I was about 10 years old....and I didnt get my period until 14 and 1/2....so it cant be related. I am 28 now and it is happening again. This is so funny b/c I told the drs that I feel like someone is yanking on a string in my belly button and it is a sharp pain, but if I dont stand up it dont hurt and they act like I am crazy.
I think it might have to do w/ your gallbladder???? I am going to research it more.
It really hurts |
