I am a teacher's aide in a grade 5 classroom. There is an 11 year old boy that has been diagnosed with Turrets. He is an intelligent boy and works best in a structured classroom setting.

I share the job with another aide who agitates him by insisting that he make eye contact whenever she speaks to him. It often causes a disturbance. He will often refuse to work for her.

I have a very good relationship with this fellow and he works well for me and with me.

Is it expecting too much of him to insist that he make eye contact with an adult whenever he is spoken to?

Thank you for your reply,
