Hi I'm two days post tonsillectomy (i'm 26) and the best advice i can give is make sure you set alarms to take pain med at night...oh my god! I woke in so much pain I cried. Anyway, managaed to get back to sleep for 4 hours and woke up to take the next dose. I was given Oral Morphine, Paracetamol and Ibuprofen which is good but the morphine makes me very drowsy.  At the moment my throat is totally white. I also feel like i have loads of gunk sitting on my chest but i don't want to cough! Yesterday i had a really thick string of blood stained yellow mucus which just wouldn't go away.... i'll admit i managed to fashion a sort of suction device using a small straw and the vacuum cleaner. Sounds gross but it worked - managed to pull a looong string of the stuff and a thick blob of dried blood at the end - probably not advised but it worked and I dont feel like constantly swallowing to try to get rid of it! Also a bit of my tongue is numb but im guessing that normal!
