What would you call this? Every so often, perhaps at least 2-3 times a month, I get this awful feeling in my throat. I feel so sick when I get like this, yet I don't think I have a cold or anything. I don't know what it is, even though it's been happening to me for years. I'm not even sure how to describe it. I guess you can say that my throat sort of feels swollen, or that it has a lot of pressure on it, but I think I'd say that it feels more like it's clogged. I'm constantly spitting out my saliva and coughing up phlegm since I hate swallowing. When I get like this, I get absolutely miserable. I can't do so many things. It's hard to talk, as I can't breathe sometimes and it just feels awful to do so. I can't drink anything if it's cold. If it's cold, it feels incredibly disgusting in my throat. If it's hot, I can tolerate it, but it is still unpleasant. Eating is also out of the question. And so is sleeping. I can't lay down in my bed like this. Since I get so attentive to things like germs and dust when I get like this, when I was younger, I thought that it was caused by me sleeping in my room, since it was rather dirty and dusty all the time back then. I've kept my room clean, but to no avail. It's still as dusty as ever, no matter what I do. Could it possibly be because of that? I know it probably isn't, but just the thought of sleeping in that dusty bed today is driving me nuts. (It's already past midnight since I can never get to sleep like this.) Please, if you know what this is and how to treat it, tell me. I can't function properly when I'm like this, it's miserable.

Well, have you talked to your doctor about this? You say it's been happening to you for a very long time, is it possible that no one managed at least to check for the basic conditions that might cause something like this. Because it's not a small thing, disrupting your life like this. Have you ever tried using inhalers or have been checked for allergies? MY aunt, who had asthma, had a similar thing - if she saw a desert o TV she would start to cough and it would be hard for her to breathe. But as I said, she had asthma inhalers who did work most of the time.

Okay, me again. I'm going to the doctor tomorrow. But one more thing. I just started hacking up blood. This has never happened before. Any help?
