Thank God for this message board. I have all the same symptoms and rushed out to get charcocaps THEY WORKED!!!!! At least I think it was them, I took Pamprim @ the same time but the pressure was off quicker than the Pamprin could have worked. This is my 2nd period since going off the pill & second month of being in agony, not being able to wear my pants because Im so bloated. Also just got over shooting cramps, but 1 & half weeks from my period. I went to my gyno & she said I was probably ovulating or had a cyst. SHe told me to see how I feel after my period starts next week. Never experienced these symptoms while on the pill. If this continues Im going back on the pill.
Also note that I had my dtr 2 years ago, been on the pill since & as soon as I go off I get all this weird stuff.
Ive checked other sources & other suggestions are yogurt with live cultures & 100mg/day of vitamin B6. Along w/ lots of water & exercise.
Hope this helps someone. At least we know we're not alone.[/enc]

I am SO glad I found this discussion board. I thought I was the only one with this problem and the one post about it being worse when ovulating, OMG, that is ME. I thought I was going to pass out from the pain yesterday. It hurts to sit, feels like a ton of pressure in my vaginal area and I have gained 8 pounds in 2 weeks even though I work out every morning at the gym, walk every night for 3 miles and am on a very healthy 1250 calorie diet. My stomach is HUGE, my pants don't fit and I am miserable. Thank you everyone for your suggestions. I am going to CVS at lunch to get the CharcoCaps. I will write back to let you know if they work.

I even thought I was pregnant and bought a EPT.

I have been experiencing the same thing. I have gained 8 pds in a matter of days. I pants don't fit and I feel like I am pregnant. This is horrible. It feels like there is so much pressure and I need to be poked to relieve it. I too noticed it started days before my period. I don't get it? I am going to try the charcoal pills-thanks for the advice! This is horrible!

I stopped taking Yaz bc June 24th because of the horrible side effects that instead of diminishing after 3 months they got worse. I noticed I was bloated and had bad cramps, but thought it was my period. I got my period on July 30th, it lasted 3 days and was pretty normal except that my belly was still very bloated and cramps were still bothering me. I've always been very thin and still am but I'm gaining weight every day and the only part of my body that has grown is my belly. I feel full all the time so I'm consuming less food, and what I do eat is very healthy, I jog 6 miles 5 days and lift weights 2 days a week. This has been my life style since I was 20 (I'm 27). I can't fit into any of my clothes, I look pregnant, I wear big tees and baggy shorts every day. I don't think this would be so alarming if the weight was all over my body, but it's not. I saw my doc, who said "no clue, see your gyno". Saw my gyno, and she's puzzled, got blood work done and getting an ultra sound on tuesday. I am so sorry to find out there so many women with the same problem, but relieved I'm not alone.

i am really, really relieved to have found this. I have been experiencing the same EXACT thing lately. I have gained about 10 pounds in a matter of a couple of weeks, my stomach is constantly hard and bloated and i feel like i look like i am 7 months pregnant. NONE of my clothes fit me any more, i seriously had to go out and buy new stuff, in sizes i have never even come close to.

My diet is fine, i'm a vegetarian and usually try to eat really healthy. I also do pilates and cardio several times a week. I'm 26 and I just stopped the pill (LoEstrin) a few weeks ago, i dont know if that has anything to do with it.
Today at work i went on a walk and when i came back inside and sat down i got this sudden, unbearable crippling stomach pain. I couldnt breathe or stand up straight or even move. It lasted about 5 minutes and went away, but i havent felt quite right since.... That kind of freaked me out.

I think i am going to go out and try to get those charcoal pills tonight, i pray those work...

I am Sandy. I am 21 years old and have had pain in my abdominal area and also under my ribs. Been having wieght gain and I hurt alot. I am afraid that something is wrong. I have had an abnormal pap and found out it was mild dysplasia and I have to have the LEEP done because the hospital doesn't offer any other procedure. I have pain during intercouse with my husband and he thinks I am faking and not into it. At first I thought maybe i was justing having rough sex and it just kept on and on even when I didn't have intercourse. Does anyone know what the cause may be? Is it something serious wrong?

I too have been experiencing a huge amount of weight gain in my stomach and I look about 8 months pregnant. I can't stand it anymore!!! I have ALWAYS been constipated and I take stool softners and laxatives, but, to no avail. I might "go" about once every 2 wks and that's IF I'm lucky. I also had an ovarian cyst that ruptured about 3 months ago, and I ended up going to Emergency Room, but, have yet made an appt. with a gyno, which I KNOW I really need to do. I just don't understand WHY all my weight that I gain goes directly to my stomach. I constantly feel nauceous and I look ridiculous because my legs are skinny and my stomach is HUGE. IF someone could PLEASE give me some ideas on what this might be caused from, I would greatly appreciate it!!!

Wow, I'm also grateful to have found this blog. I think I've had a crazy cycle most of my life. I'm 31 now. I tried Ortho tri-cyclin in 2000 and had the same results as now. I just finished a month of Yaz. I started my cycle on August 17th. Today is September 12 and I'm still bleeding. My gyno said I started the Yaz on the wrong day, so I need to take Agyestin to stop the flow, then start taking Yaz again when this period stops and 5 days later when the next period begins. I started the pill to "regulate" my period both times. It is supposed to help me ovulate. Someone on here said that it's worse when they ovulate. I also look like I am about 8 months pregnant. I had lost 8 pounds, but gained most of them back during all of this. My stomach is tight and bloated and I need to go buy a lot of pants with elastic waists with big t-shirts. I feel like I have gas or have to go #2, but usually nothing comes out, or I'm going 2-3 times a day. I feel like I have to pee and when I get to the toilet it's just trickles. I'm so uncomfortable. I'm a teacher and this affects my attitude at school. I'm tired a lot and I have really bad cramps. I really wish someone would tell all of us what's really going on. My doctor and my gyno said I have ovarian cysts and I need to lose weight. I started a new workout, but had to quit when all of this began. No one has told me I needed to change eating habits, exercise routines, stress, relaxation... none of that. It's just.."take this pill and that pill, then we may need to test you for...." whatever. There is something going on here and I think we all deserve an answer. It's miserable living this lifestyle and unless it's happening to you, it seems people really don't understand. It's just a period and some cramps like all women go through, to everyone else, but they really don't know.

Please get checked for Celiac Sprue disease. It is a manageable disease through a gluten free diet. My 2 sisters had all of the symptoms you are all describing and they were both diagnosed with it- because it is an autoimmune disease, it can cause a variety of problems - many of which are intestinal. It is common in people with a Northern European background (e.g., ancestors from England, Ireland, Italy, France, etc). It is hereditary. It ois very common but most people in the US know nothing about Celic Disease. In Europe, it is a fairly common, well known disease. There are many resources on the Web to find out more...good luck!

I have a very similar situation, painful trapped gas, extreme ovarian pain only on the right side. CT scan showed enlarged ovarian veins. However, my gyn said if it were truly that bad, it would improve while I was laying down - but my pain and gas keeps me up all night. He suggested a hysterectomy, but I am going to get another opinion by an interventional radiologist. Anyone else kept up all night w/pain? It is made worse when I exercise - forget about jogging or even walking. I am in pain for days after I work out. Any thoughts would be appreciated!

I have been suffering with these exact symptoms for years. I am 29 almost 30 years old. I have had crippling pain days and sometimes a week before my period. The pain sends me to the floor. I have always had severe symptoms with my period and was on the depo shot for a couple of those years (it's not for everyone). The symptoms disappeared and I was healthy during that time. I would joke to my family that it was like taking a mega-vitamin. I was later taken off for other reasons.
In the past 2 1/2 years I have gained a total of 75 pounds. It's all in my stomach. I naturally have large breasts so with a t-shirt I can hide a lot of it. My family and my think that I'm blowing it out of proportion. My boyfriend has not see me naked in a long time so he has no idea of the severity. I don't want him to because he doesn't take this serious. I am so scared and have nobody to comfort me. This site has done a tremendous amount. I am in tears to finally have someone believe me.
I am on a budget and have gone to the doctor several times and have had no results. I have been put on other birth control pills and have bee checked for a thyroid problem (which does run in my family). All of these bills and I'm back at square one. How do you get a doctor to listen to you when they think you just need a diet?
I had tried diets and to no avail I was gaining weight. I am horrified to put pants on every day for fear they may not fit. It's happened too often. I also am experiencing nausea and vomiting up clear fluids after meals. It happens every so often and will last for a few days to a week at a time. If anyone knows anything please, I beg you, e-mail me. My address is
