Hi, thanks for the message, that does look like one hell of a bed! I think it may be the best solution for me too! Could I just ask what sort of pains you were having and if these have now totally disappeared thanks to the mattress? I've had abdominal pains every single night for the past 5 years, kicking in a few hours after going to sleep and worsened by taking deep breaths. Pain would go away almost immediately after getting up. Thanks for any info!

Hi.i just wanted to tell you what i have discovered.the problem starts because of dugestional problems.gastritis mainly.a solution is to not eat around 4-5 hours before sleep.also around 5pm if you are at home take around a spoon of vitamin C with water.this will make your poop liquid and you will clean out your stomach.repeat this every day till you get rid of the pain.the thing is i have this pain only in winter time mostly.but lately i had it worstened.so after research i discovered this is the problem.itsthe digestion when in horizontal.also some times during the day if i eat heavy food it happens that i have stomach and back prolems. So its all about the food.go vegan for a month and see what happens.

Thanks for the tips I will definitely give the Vitamin C a try. Going vegan is definitely next on my list too. Did you try going vegan and experience positive results? Also, any idea why your pain only occurred during the winter?

Sorry for not getting back to you sooner....my pain was on my left side abdomen but seems to travel (weird but I'm telling the truth here). I no longer have any abdominal pain whatsoever but will occasionally still have a achy low back. My only relief a few years ago was to sleep in a recliner downstairs. I can only recall 1 night (only 1) within a 2-3 year period where I slept through the night with no discomfort or pain. Only 1. I would always (minus that 1 time) get up a few hours after falling asleep due to discomfort/pain and the only way to relieve the discomfort was to walk around a bit. It would be gone with 5-10 minutes. Often times if I went to the bathroom...that too seemed to elevate the discomfort/pain. If I went back to bed...the discomfort would come back within an hour or 2. But if I went and slept on the recliner....no discomfort whatsoever. So I bit the bullet and dropped 5k on a Sleep Number Bed. And I have to say....it worked. I have slept in my bed since the day I bought it and only wake up to go to the bathroom (well...maybe it took about a week or so to figure out my "sleep number" but after that....every night since.) I set my incline only up a few degrees...it's not a lot and put my sleep number down to 25-30. It takes off any pressure on my back. Honest to God...this bed has made all the difference in the world to me. It goes without saying, that I have only figured out a way to cope with it....the pain is still there if I ever sleep flat or on a harder mattress (on vacation for example). So I still don't know the exact cause but have simply found a way to deal with it. Hope this helps!

I am now pain free! I have had lower abdominal pain late at night for about one and a half years. The pain started as a sharp pain deep in my lower left quadrant that abruptly woke me up at about 5 am every day. Over time the pain became less sharp and more of a throbbing in the same location but would still wake me each night. The pain goes away when I get up and I don't notice it during the day. I have had doctors visits, a colonoscopy, specialist visit for possible volvulus, discussion about IBS, and the doctors have not been able to find the problem. After all this time of worry, tests, and not getting a full nights rest, I finally was able to identify the problem. Even better yet, I found the solution and the pain is completely gone and I am sleeping all night. The treatment is with several supplements and I was symptom free in less than 1 week. I am saddened that I and so many others suffered from this problem without the correct diagnosis and simple treatment.

Hey thanks for getting back to me! That is pretty much exactly how I would describe what I have, I'm sure we have the same thing which is a relief. And I know exactly what you mean by the pain travelling, my discomfort has definitely traveled over the years (higher up, lower down, slightly to the left or right). And the discomfort usually always comes back within an hour or two after getting up (in the cases I decide to go back to bed). Only thing I would add is that the pain worsens when taking deep breaths and alleviates slightly when passing gas. I'm still convinced it can be solved through some sort of diet. I tried a pretty restrictive low carb diet for a few weeks along with a bunch of supplements (digestive enzymes, probiotics etc.) which seemed to vastly reduce the discomfort, although was definitely not a long term solution. Thanks so much for the info in any case, I'm sure I'll bite the bullet soon enough.

I've been having the same problem since I was 14 and I'm 23 almost 24 now I'll go to sleep and wake up with a severe stabbing pain in my right side I'll end up being extremely bloated if I go to the bathroom it doesn't help sometimes it's on both sides and I can't sleep on stay lying down I have to get up or stay sitting up any kind of movement amplifies the pain. Sometimes it lingers all day and doesn't subside and it makes going to sleep at night difficult and alot of the times it wakes me from my sleep.

Check out Food protein induced syndromes. I am allergic to the protein in rice and am finding that I may also be allergic to other proteins. Symptoms are bloating, vomiting, inflammation of the GI tract which doesn't allow you to pass gas properly. Doctors cannot test you for these allergies which makes it very hard to diagnose. I went on the Paleo diet and then after some time I reintroduced rice back into my diet which took me to the emergency room. They thought I was passing kidney stones....had alll the tests with no results. Cow milk products (caseian protein) causes me problems such as severe back pain. Now I'm trying goat milk products. Anyway, I hope this helps because it was a revelation to me and the more I do research the more I am convinced that a lot of people are suffering from proteins in food. The only way to figure it out is to eliminate foods for a while then reintroduce them for a reaction. Good luck.
