I had that same problem. The first time I experienced the pain was when I was pregnant but the doctors just advised me that it was gas. After 4 years the pains would always come and go. But mostly at night while sleeping and it would cause me to sleep sitting up. No medicine worked for me at all. One day I had an ultrasound and found out I had gallstones in my gallbladder. They removed my gallbladder and told me I shouldn't have the pains anymore but I have had them. My gallbladder was removed 3 years ago.

I had back pain intermittently for months on upper left side - eventually I had another minor heart attack and needed a stent put in ... maybe get checked out for heart problem ... I had ultrasounds and sonograms in hospital before the angiogram

Probiotics/bifidus over the counter grocery and health food stores.
Problem is in the intestine; need of good bacteria.

Ask your doctor to do a gastric emptying study. I had your exact symptoms and it was found that I had gastroparesis (slow emptying stomach).

Consider hip issues. I have this groin pain but it is ny hip. The muscles n tendons from hip go thro the groin area. Sleeping causes hip to stiffen n getting up to potty causes stiff muscles n tendons to spasm in protest . Used to know name of muscle/ tendon but can't remember!

Agree, in my case it was, first, gastritis, later, unfortunately, MALT lymphoma, both caused by H. Pylori. I am cured but not fully back to normal yet and the pain returns 2-4 hours after going to bed. The only solution is a bit of food (yogurt) with 500mg of ascorbic acid (vit. C). The source of pain is actually a decrease in stomach acidity.

I have had the same simptoms described below. My pain gets worse before going to sleep and for the next two hours. Every night is the same thing, no matter what I eat or not eat. Also, the pain is not an acid burning, reflux kind of pain, is that kind of pain associated with going to the bathroom. A part from that, all the exams had been negative, endoscopy clean, pylori negative.....

Has anyone figured this out yet? For six months I've been sleeping elevated which avoids the strong dull pain but occasionally I roll off my hill of pillows and the pain wakes me up. It started out only when I slept on my back and I would wake up with pain in my kidney areas. I avoided sleeping in my back. After a few months it was happening on any side I slept on. Being elevated has been my only release. Would love to sleep normal again.

I get this too. Ill go to sleep fine then 2-3 am wake up with awful lower stomache pain almost around the pelvic area, its more so on my left side. I have no other syomptoms but this. Pain subsides if I get up and walk around. I usally end up taking pain relief and eventually can go back to sleep. Its driving me nuts, its so painful and tiring, hopefully a solution if found.
