Try looking up Ankylosing Spondylitis. The pain which many people describe here sounds identical, and is worth mentioning to the doctor because it can become devastating if left untreated.

I also have stomach pain, only at night. Started about 6 months ago while sleeping on my side. Woke me up. Now I can't sleep on either side and it started to hurt lying on my back at about 3 am. I have to get up and urinate every night. As soon as I get up the pain stops. No pain during the day. I am 79 yrs old. After listening to all of you who have had all these tests I am discouraged. I've had MRI, CT scan, X-rays, blood work. Nothing shows.

I have been suffering from low back pain or side pain that wakes me up around 2 or 3 a.m. I am in a lot of pain when I wake up and it takes me a little bit to be able to move, but once I am up and moving the pain subsides. I have eaten a strict Paleo diet for several years, exercise and do physical therapy and get natural sunshine, which has helped other health problems, but doesn't touch the pain that wakes me up in the middle of the night. I have had a CT scan, a colonoscopy, and blood tests. When they all came up negative the doctors just told me it was IBS. So at one point my own intuition thought it might be bacterial. I took Grapefruit seed extract (filled an empty capsule full), and took three capsules a day. The last capsule I would take right before bedtime. It took about 3 months of this and the pain has been gone for about 6 months. After a period of recent stress the pain has returned, so I just started on my GSE capsule regimen again and I am seeing improvements on most nights. Hope this helps someone!

I forgot to mention that I was also tested for Ankylosing Spondylitis because it runs in my family. That was negative also, so I think the pain that most people are describing (that only wakes you up in the middle of the night) may be something else entirely.

I had similar symptoms to some of you . I am male 37 a full time student and getting to my exams i binged a bit on energy drinks...a can a day for two weeks. about a week after i stopped i started getting this massive pain on my right hand side of my stomach just under the last ribs, this was around 2am in the morning . I took pain stoppers for the first few days with the pain coming at the same time of night. 3 nights ago i got no relief from the pain stoppers , though a bit of lactose intolerant i decided to drink some milk. Being a bit intolerant to milk i had a dump not so long after and a lot of farting. This jogged my memory and realised that for the period i was in immense pain , the farting had totally disappeared from my toilet visits. Now i am farting again when taking a dump and the pain has gone. Hope this will be of help to some .
