Good news, it is not just me -bad news the doctors did not tell me about this as a possible side effect either! IF they did it was probably lumped in with the usual"nausea, headache, slight weight gain". I have gained 25 lbs since the procedure! And I look and feel pregnant!!! 12 people have asked me if I am pregnant, those are just the ones who ask!Yes I AM keeping count.SO now what?Am I doomed to be overweight?I have only ever been this big when getting ready to deliver!I like to be 110 but married life and contentedness kept me around 120 now I am 145 and growing!!!!!I am only 5'1" this is so frustrating. What doI have to do?Starve?Exercise till I drop?I am a busy woman with a busy household.I have been a vegetarian for most of my life, and have always been aware of my weight.I am scared.

Thank you ladies, I had an ablation, Novasure I believe, and imediately started with the weight gain!! When I see pics of myself after the procedure I looked like I swallowed a balloon. I was never told about the possibility and being on thyroid meds for Hypothyroidism, you would have thought the doc might have warned me. I didn't realize how bad I looked until the pics. I have always been thin, but at 5'1 just a little weight is bad!!
On the other hand, i was having my period twice a month bleeding for about 10 days, that part has been a godsend. I love that I don't have to worry about that anymore.
I am so glad I happened upon this site because now I feel better knowing it wasn't soemthing I had done to myself. never been a big eater, don't drink, couple of coffees a day and water. Have been a strict 1200 calorie a day person for over 12 years. So finding out that others have come to this conclusion about the post Novasure weight gain is great.
Thank you.

I had the Novasure done Friday so it hasn't even been a week and I am gaining weight. I don't understand it either- should be losing not gaining. I am up 5# already. I can't take any weight loss medicines because I am taking anti-inflamatories for a pulled muscle right now and those are suppose to not make you gain weight so who knows.

I had ablation 6 months ago (2/10) and have gained 40 pounds. Even with increased excersize and no change in diet, I am still gaining.....Ugh.

Wow!!! is all I can say .... I had ablation in April and have had unusual weight gain in my stomach especially. I have always had to watch my hips and thighs but my stomach has always been really flat. Since April I have went from 115lbs to 120lbs my normal fluctuating weight to 130lbs to 135lbs. My stomach actually giggles when I walk I just looked in the mirror and it looks like after I had my son 16 yrs ago when you skin is loose and giggly and I freaked out then because I didn't know if would bounce back. I was thinking it was from periomenopause but my husband kept saying it was from the surgery because the weight gain started immediately following. I know it is not good but I have went several days and only consumed around 500 calories per day and lost only a couple pounds. Normally if I would do this I could lose 5 lbs easy and maintain it afterward. Something is definately going on here and it was never mentioned that I would gain weights. This sucks!~

Did anyone find a solution to the weight gain? I'm going through this now and am freaking out! It's horrible. I asked my Dr. about it before the procedure and she said there was no weight gain side effect with the Novasure procedure. That is definitely NOT the case. Please help if you found a solution. Thanks.

Hello Ladies, I had the ablation done in November of 2008 and I have put on 10 pounds. I am extremely upset by this. I am only 5 ft. in height and hate that my stomach is so bloated all the time. I was at a point that I was happy with the way my body looked. I never had a flat stomach, but it never protuded out like this. Now, I feel fat all the time. The last time I asked my gyn he said it had nothing to do with the procedure, my weight is changing because of my age (now 46). I think this is a cop out. I wonder if it can be from scar tissue. Although the procedure lightened my period drastically, I wish I had known about the weight gain. I am very upset over this. If anyone knows why, please let us know. Has anyone tried contacting Novasure to find out why we are putting on weight. I know its not in our minds, but it is very upsetting. I haven't thought about water pills, maybe I will try them. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

I am 50 and had the ablation done 3 years ago and Im still gaining weight. Ive gained 30 lbs, mostly in my stomach.  I always had a flat stomach but immediately after the surgery my belly started growing.  I gave up diet cokes, margaritas, most fast food and still am gaining.  I was never told that weight gain would be an issue and I was so relieved to hear that this procedure could take care of my profuse bleeding that I honestly didnt do any research.  I wish I would have because I may have considered trying other ways to help the bleeding before doing this.

I was really starting to think I was the only one dealing with this issue.  I had a D&C and ThermaChoice ablation done 4/21/11.  I put off having the procedure done for over a year but could no longer deal with flooding through super tampons and pads every hour when I got my period.  This was occuring while I was on the birth control pill.  I have always watched what I ate and go to the gym and work out.  Since the ablation I have put on 8 lbs. and I am terrified to get on the scale because every time I get on I seem to keep gaining weight.  I am thankful to be period free but if I had known this ahead of time I might have suffered with the heavy bleeding versus weight gain that feels like it will never stop.  I seriously look like I am 4 months pregnant.  If anyone finds a solution to this issue please share.  I am getting very depressed over this.

PS - I am 48 years old, will be 49 in October.  Since I was on birth control pills until I had the ablation done I have been having a lot of night sweats and hot flashes.  I didn't know if the belly weight gain was hormone related or if there was something physically wrong with me.  This is really depressing. :-(

I had my ablation 1 year ago and have gained over 20 pounds this is not something normal for me. Doctor says I have lost my mind when I tell her that is was caused by this procedure but I really believe it was!!!!!!

Is there anything we can do to fix it????????
