Hello, good people. My friend has been administrated to the hospital. He had suffered from sinusitis before. I think he left it untreated, so got some complication. Can abscess orbita be the result of sinusitis? I think this is his diagnosis. I would appreciate if someone could answer me this. Bye!

Hello, there. Orbital complications are very possible due to sinusitis. It is logical if you look at their position. Maxillary sinus is under orbit. Frontal sinus is above this orbital cavity. Ethmoid sinus is between two orbits. Sphenoid sinus is behind orbit. Inflammation can easily spread. It can be mild affecting only eyelids. However, if the inflammation is more serious, then there is abscess of orbit which can even lead to blindness. I hope your friend will be all right. Bye!
