Hello, guest.

Experiencing a ringing in your ears and increased sensitivity after starting a medication like Accutane (isotretinoin) can be concerning. The first and most crucial step is to contact the healthcare provider who prescribed Accutane. They need to be informed about your symptoms to provide appropriate advice and treatment. Tinnitus can be a side effect of various medications, and your doctor will be able to assess whether Accutane is the cause in your case.

Your doctor may suggest a thorough evaluation to determine the cause of your symptoms. This can include examining your ear health, hearing, and any related factors.

Don’t try to treat these symptoms on your own with over-the-counter drugs or supplements without consulting a healthcare professional first.

Until you get professional advice, try to protect your ears from loud noises. Given your sensitivity, it’s wise to avoid environments with high noise levels. If your tinnitus persists, there are various management strategies that can be effective. These include sound therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, and tinnitus retraining therapy. Your healthcare provider can guide you to the appropriate treatment.

Tinnitus can be a very distressing experience, but it’s important to stay calm. Stress and anxiety can exacerbate the perception of tinnitus.

Remember, while Accutane is effective for treating severe acne, it has a range of potential side effects, and every individual reacts differently to medications.
