I would go to silk. I ended up with an allergy to acrylic. Like you, I bite my nails and the only way they look nice is if I get them done! I have been doing silk for the last few years and had no problems.

I am allergic to acrylic refills but was advised years ago to try a SILK refill. Worked like a charm. Then my salon changed ownership about 3 months ago and even though I told them about the allergy they apparently did not understand and I had a terrible reaction. Have switched back to silk but still get a lesser reaction. Am thinking it may take months until the nail is totally grown out. I should probably bite the bullet and have them totally removed but my natural nails are so thin now I am afraid to do it. Any suggestions?

Yes, same here. I have read a few of the comments and it is true, once allergic always allergic. And alcohol rubbing makes it worse. No real solution. I have seen a professional skin doctor and he says the same, go natural.

This last time I got my nails done I got the pink acrylic and I've notice my entire body itching. Can it be from the acrylic or does that only effect your hands?

I have had acrylic nails for about 12 years. In early June, I began noticing red around my nail beds on 2 nails.
Now, almost all have this redness and scaling under the nail tip.
Could this also be an allergy to the acrylics?

I recently got the diamond in hopes of not having the reaction and I'm on day 2 and my fingers are quite swollen with tiny blisters everywhere. Might work differently for you. I got the diamond as a fill in from the time before where I got a full set of acrylic and gel polish both times. The skin around my nails are no longer dry and itchy as of now but I have a feeling they will soon return to being in that state after the swelling subsides.

I too have this problem. Ugh! I just have a manicure done with shellac polish. It helps my nails grow and no allergies. Hope this helps!
