I just had this done and yes it feels like painful cramps all through my abdomen and it is like period cramps. It feels like the cramps I got when I was induced for childbirth. It’s very painful. I’ve been taking Tylenol and Advil but they don’t do much. I haven’t been able to sleep much the pain makes my toes curl. I won’t be doing this again it hurts too much. I was told it would take 2/3 days for the pain to subside. They really should give you something stronger for pain after this procedure. It feels like someone is twisting a knife inside me.

Next time take care of your constipation before procedure. I was given tramadol for pain. You need a soft stool for your first bm. So I would start the mirilax before banding. Also my doctor would ask if I felt pain or pressure before shooting the band on. Its no picnic, but a soft stool helps

I've been dealing with piles (from preganacy) for almost two years now. Extreme pain and itching, especially at night. I finally sought a second opinion and the Dr recommended a banding treatment. I had my first treatment yesterday on an internal hemmorrhoid. It never hurt but felt like constant pressure like I had to have a BM. It didn't hurt when I actually passed a BM the next day. Now, 24 hours after the procedure and all the pressure is gone. Again, I experienced no pain and no bleeding (yet). I will be getting the next treatment in 2 weeks with hopefully the same results. I just wanted to share my positive experience so far.

I had this litigation done three days ago. I am in agony and bleeding on and off in clots. Had two banded left side and right side close to the outside. I am so off balance. The MD told me to do my bowel movements but not to sit more than two minutes straining. The thing is ,I am moving my bowels constantly since I am on colace (3)
Daily and fiber. The pain is excruciating and the only thing that helps is a heating pad on my back. Would never do this again. Wish me luck.

I'm a physician and post op day #1 from my second hemorrhoid banding. The comments here make me question what type of physician did the bandings?? First; go to a colorectal surgeon. Choose a specialist, not a generalist. Most have 3 hemorrhoids, as that's the anatomy. Only have one banded at a time and wait at least 2 weeks between bandings. My experience; NO anesthetic, procedure took 30 seconds, stuffy post-op feeling like I needed to move my bowels, but very minimal discomfort. After both procedures I took a couple of extra strength Tylenol (acetaminophen (doesn't cause bleeding like the non-steroidals (aspirin, naproxen, ibuprofen, etc.)). Warm sitz baths as needed, none were needed by me. Don't be afraid, be intelligent and be your own advocate. Do NOT do more than one banding at a time. That's it.
