Hi all, I have had this since 10 years old, I remember the corner of pages felt like they were gonna poke me in eyes, I have to squint my eyes when using scissors as an example. I have not had this issue for a while but had again for 2 weeks solid, the main thing that soothes the issue is to have my hands by my eyes and pressing around eyes. At work is difficult cause corner of monitor. I stand up with my forehead against the wall which makes me look mental. In big open spaces my eyes are okay. Doubt there is anything to help?

Hi, guest.
It sounds like you might be experiencing a form of visual hypersensitivity or a specific type of anxiety related to visual stimuli. The discomfort and anxiety you feel around sharp or pointed objects, like the corners of pages or scissors, and your coping mechanism of pressing around your eyes suggest a sensory-related issue. This could be related to a variety of factors including vision problems, neurological conditions, or psychological factors.
Here are a few general suggestions that might help:
-
Eye Examination: If you haven't already, get a comprehensive eye examination. There could be an underlying vision issue contributing to your discomfort.
-
Psychological Evaluation: Considering that the issue seems to be related to anxiety in specific situations, speaking to a mental health professional could be beneficial. They can help determine if there's an anxiety component and provide coping strategies or therapy.
-
Environmental Adjustments: For work, you might consider using screen protectors that reduce glare or setting up your workspace to minimize the exposure to sharp angles and corners.
-
Stress Management: Techniques like mindfulness, meditation, or even simple breathing exercises can be effective in managing anxiety and stress, which might reduce the intensity of your symptoms.
Hope this helps!
