I had my 3 rd cervical fusion in 2015 I am fused from c2-c6. With cervical spine curing the opposite direction. I am noticing my posture worsening and have been trying to correct. When I sit up straight and my neck is sat up straight, and I have the same feeling 3 years after surgery like sumone is restricting my airways and a thumb is being pressed on my throat had to swallow when i eat, which is why my head natural tilts backward so I can swallow normal.
Did you ever get an out come to ur situation. I am contemplating Dr. But keep putting it off.

I’m so glad to see I’m not alone. I thought it was in my head. A week ago I had C2-6 ACDF. I try explaining to family I feel like I’m being strangled. I can’t take medications whichout crushing and mixing them in apple sauce (a nurses trick). Two nights ago while trying to take baby sips of my drink (with a straw) caused it to get stuck in my throat, I grasped for breath, ran into the bedroom where my husband was. I was in total panic. He calmed me so I could breathe again, but now I’m petrified of putting anything in my mouth. In one week I’ve lost 13 lbs.
it looks like many are months out and still have issues, that’s scary! I was Never told that this could happen and to be honest I’m p’d off. My pain is gone woohoo but getting this in turn is not worth it. Thank you all for your posts

I'm having the same issues now. Not only can I not sing but it hurts to sing and talk. I have LPR but this is not that. It feels like my throat is being scraped over rocks. When I lay down at night I feel like everything is stretched over rocks and I have trouble swallowing and breathing. I developed pneumonia by day 3 due to swallowing issues. I'm only 15 days out but these posts scare me!

So I wanted to give a follow up to original message. I finally back to the surgeon who corrects all of the other surgeons messups in my town. He had me get more Xray/ultrasound
& it seems that c1 is almost completely herniated & will need fixing.this is why I’m feeling the plate in my throat as its now slightly on my esophagus. he wants to wait until pain down arm starts as this won’t be an easy surgery due to the throat plate c2-c7. The unbearable migraines have returned as has nausea & sensitivity to light & sound. I’m going to Phys therapy which is helping. Hope this helps.

I had my Fusion done about 4 years ago C5 6-7 and on and off I've been having issues with swallowing. ENT doctor did a scope said that there is a narrowing of the esophagus. Now for the last 2 weeks everyday I feels like there's a lump in the back of my throat when I swallow.

I was fused from C3 to C5 on February 2010 and then in December 2010 I was fused from C-5 to C7. It's been 10 years and I still choke on fluids, hamburger and scrambled eggs and some other foods but mainly my pills, they get stuck and then it burns my throat wherever they get stuck at and usually they get stuck at the incision site. I really hate that you all are going through that because it really sucks, you're in my prayers and I hope it gets better.

I am having the very same problem. I had a fusion at the C5-C7 level and when wearing the collar, everything felt tight and constricted. After not having to wear the collar, I feel as though someone is constantly pushing on my throat with theri thumb. The pain is gone from the origianl problem, but now this constant pressure is really gettting to my head, i.e., that it is causing dizziness which leads to vomiting becasue my world is spinning and my stomach is turning. I am now 5 months post-op and the feeling is not going away. Someone please help!
