I have been on percocet 10mg for about 7 months for back and neck pain. After going to my pain management doctor, she suggested I try the Butrans patch 10 mg, which I will be starting today. I have never heard of it before now and want to know more personal experiences people have had. Switching from percocet to butran preferably. But anything will help.

Hi Dani-

I was in pain mgmt. for several years due to severe back problems. I am a 32 yo mom and hated being on rx pills (oxycodone) and tramadol (imo just as bad). I went on my own to a 3 day detox and when I got home, I guess I expected everything to be ok but it wasn't. My pain was still there. I tried over 7 injections, chiropractic work, anti-inflammatories, you name it. Finally my Dr. Suggested the Butrans. He started me at 5mcg and I asked for the 10 once I got used to it. The first few days I had vomiting and nausea but they went away soon and by two weeks in I could tell this med was different. I have now been on it for 6 months and couldn't be happier. The worst side effect is it not sticking and it gives me a very itchy welt underneath. I will take this any day compared to the ups and downs of pills. I feel normal. No "high" or euphoria, just normal, happy and energetic. It doesn't take away all the pain but just enough to let me enjoy my life and my kids. I hope this helps! Good luck!!
