I saw an ad for this diet plan which claims that you lose 6-10 pounds per week for 4 weeks, and then 4 pounds per week after that. It sounds pretty outrageous to me, has anyone tried it, or does anyone know anything about it?

Thanks!

Maggie Drozd - Whoever this Maggie Drozd is (big star) is a phoney. I’ve been three months trying to contact someone.

I order the diet plan from Maggie Drozd. It did come but conveniently had no return information for their guarantee. Not one number or address in their pamplet. I wrote an e-mail to someone on the internet selling it.

No actual person answered me, just e-mails like we had talked and how good the diet was. We had never talked. Just ignored my request for address or phone number. Whoever this Maggie Drozd is (big star) is a phoney. I’ve been three months trying to contact someone.

Hi oldgymshoes! I’ve been trying to get some more information about this Maggie Drozd's diet that everybody’s talking about but nobody seems to be able to help me.

I am interested in what way this diet works. I know that you need to take some pills but I am interested in what exactly the philosophy of this book that goes along is.

Are you holding by the rules? Do you exercise? How much do you need to lose and how much does the diet promise you would lose?

Thank you so much for your help

Hihi, is this the company name???

Well, this sounds really funny to me. Actually, Meggie Drozd is a lady from Romania (Europe), so what does it have to do with Hollywood Health? Or is it just a distributor company?

I'll give it a call, to check it out ;)

Btw. Guest, thanks for a tool-free number!

I just found her ad in Country Living Magazine (Feb.2006 issue). The Beverly Hills, CA address seems to be correct as well as maggiedrozd.com. My first thought was if this is so strong and to work so fast....does that mean its gonna kill me? XD Also, who the heck is Maggie Drozd? I'm considering trying this method too. I know its been around awhile, but I never really paid that much attention to the ads in other magazines. Maybe its because now...I really do need to loose the weight!! I haven't stuck to a diet for some time and have tried weight watchers back about 13 years ago...and was a success at loosing 50lbs. Then came 3 daughters. I think if this new method will kind of give me a jump start that then I will have the encouragement to try harder. I found when I restarted Weight Watchers...I really wasn't interested in it again. It takes work to get off those pounds, but I did find that having a support group was helpful...and alot of water and walking!

As I know, she was a Romanian TV actor. In USA called "European TV star". Anyway, I'm from UK, and I never heard about her?? ;)

Therefore, I decided to investigate this case a little bit closer. Maggie Drozd spice pills has been distributed (at least online) through the “company” called Hollywood Health and Beauty. They use still the website maggiedrozd.com to sell the Maggie Drozd spice diet pills. However, I couldn’t trace the real domain holder. Furthermore, there’s no information about this company. They’ve blocked search engines to crawl their website, therefore we cannot find any “cached” information. It smells like clean fraud. However, let’s see who is Maggie Drozd, really?? Her real name is not Maggie, but I just cannot find the right name at this moment. She had short carrier on a Romanian TV. Talking about “Euro TV Star” is a hilarious joke ;) Earlier, I’ve read about her in some newspapers. She lost cca. 90 pounts, but she didn’t say she used spice pills to get rid off excessive pounds. Obviously, the new diet pills distributors are trying to shelter all relevant information about her.

As most of you already know, there’s no diet plan based on pills only. There’s pills based on chemical substances which can block some of your brain receptors to reduce your hunger feeling, but all these pills have very bad and long-term side effects which can destroy the body in very short time. Maybe you can lose weight, but you’ll lose your health too and possibly everything else what’s around you, your job, family etc. There’s a ton of cases where abuse of unknown diet pills triggered bad side effects, where those people suffered from it a years or decades after.

Let’s get back to Maggie Drozd diet pills and its ingredients. Her spice diet is based on herbs and the spice pills include following ingredients:

    Advantra Z
    Cayenne pepper
    Garcinia cambogia
    hydroxycitric acid
    Ginger root
    Green tea extract
    Kola nut extract
    Yerba mate
    Guarana extract
    White Willow Bark extract
    Pepper powder
    Paprika powder
    Mustard dry extract powder
    Nutmeg dry extract
    Caraway seed extract
    Chromate

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Quote:

Advantra Z - is a patented, standardized herbal extract that, exhibited a powerful thermogenic effect, acting to increase the resting metabolic rate (the rate which calories are burned).

Notice:
Basically it is an extract of the Chinese herb zhi-shi and this is bitter orange (citrus aurantium) contains small amounts of alkaloids such as synephrine and octopamine, which are direct- and indirect-acting adrenergic agents. Adrenergic agents with ß-agonist activity stimulate lipolysis and increase the resting metabolic rate in some persons, thus increasing the removal and oxidation of fat from adipose tissue stores. This statement has not been evaluated by the food and drug administration. This product is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any disease.

This means, this ingredient in higher doses could cause unwanted side-effects and could make bad obstructions in your digestive tract.

Quote:

Cayenne pepper - Cayenne pepper is a very hot red powder used to flavour dishes; its name comes from the city of Cayenne in French Guiana.

Notice:
This pepper could be very bad for digestion, at most for people with gastrointestinal disorders like: Hemorrhoids, IBS, frequent diharea, intestine infections, gastritis, heartburn, constipation, bad digestion, etc. Moreover the people with grave diseases, like hepatitis, fatty liver, liver disorders, cerrosis, gastric & intestinal ulcers, colon polyps, etc would have very bad reaction using such ingredient in their nutrition.

Quote:

Garcinia cambogia - commonly known as Gambooge, Brindleberry, Brindall berry or Malabar tamarind, is a subtropical garcinia species native to India. Research taking place in 1965 found that hydroxycitric acid (HCA) is the principle active compound in the rind and flesh of gambooge fruits. The yellowish fruit is pumpkin-shaped.

Quote:

hydroxycitric acid -There were no well-known drug interactions with Hydroxycitric Acid.

Notice:
Optimal amounts of HCA remain unknown. Although dieters sometimes take 500 mg of HCA three times per day (before each meal), this amount is far below the levels used in animal research (figured on a per-pound body weight basis).

Quote:

Ginger root - Ginger root is used extensively as a spice in many if not most cuisines of the world. Though called a root, it is actually the rhizome of the monocotyledonous perennial plant Zingiber officinale. The active constituent of ginger is zingerone.

Notice:
People with gallstones should not use it unless their doctor approves. Because of its anti-clotting properties, it should be avoided by anyone in danger of internal bleeding.
It's best to avoid large doses of Ginger if you are taking a blood-thinning drug such as Coumadin.

Special Information If You Are Pregnant or Breastfeeding

Although a trial of Ginger in 27 pregnant women with persistent vomiting revealed no harmful effects, it is still not recommended during pregnancy.
Recommendation not more then 2 grams/day!

Quote:

Green tea extract- Green tea extract helps with thermogenesis and aids in the metabolism of fat. Known for years as a powerful antioxidant, it may also be helpful in shedding fat. The most obvious benefit to dieters is that it works without increasing the heart rate most often found in diet aids. The increased heart rate leaves dieters jittery and eventually, most dieters stop using the supplement and gain weight back.

Notice:
It’s well known antioxidant. Some studies say it may help cure a common form of cancer.

Quote:

Kola nut extract - bitter brown seed containing caffein; source of cola extract. It’s a caffeine-containing stimulant.

Notice:
Kola-nut extract induced a number of overt neurotoxicological signs in male albino rats. A decrease in the total body weight and an increase in the absolute weights of the liver, kidney, brain and testis were observed after 18 weeks oral administration of kola-nut extract to the rats. Total protein, RNA and DNA of these organs were significantly depressed. The activity of beta-glucuronidase and beta-galactosidase was induced only in the kidney, brain and testis of treated animals. While the levels of serum phosphomonoesterases and total cholesterol were significantly enhanced due to kola-nut intake, serum total and conjugated bilirubin levels were significantly decreased.

Notice:
This has been tested on animals only, but the side effects on humans are still unknown. In relation with tests above, kola nut extract could disturb the liver enzymes in human’s organism. That could provoke many gastrointestinal disorders or diseases.

Quote:

Yerba mate - Also known as Paraguay tea, this strong central nervous system stimulant is often sold as a dietary supplement. It has not been proven to cause weight loss.

Notice:
The FDA has not reviewed this product for safety or effectiveness.
Possible side effects like flushing, nausea, vomiting, irritability, nervousness, increased urination and frequent headaches, stomach pain, yellowing eyes and skin, dark urine, fever, muscle twitching, unusually fast/slow/irregular heartbeat may occur.

These side effects could cause liver disorders or could increase your blood pressure. Yerba mate is not recommended for use during pregnancy., because of the potential risk to the infant, breast-feeding while using this product is not recommended. Consult your doctor before use this product!!

Quote:

Guarana extract - high energy source (a fatigue fighter); The seeds of this South American plant are a source of caffeine and are widely used for their stimulating effect. They are said to increase alertness and help fight fatigue. In Brazil, Guarana is used for soft drinks. It is a central nervous system stimulant and is considered the least likely of all caffeine plants to cause anxiety.

Notice:
Guarana has a high concentration of caffeine and, in very high doses, may cause heart palpitations or heart rhythm irregularities in those who are sensitive to caffeine.

Quote:

White Willow Bark extract - An anodyne (relieves pain), antipyretic (reduces fever), astringent (drawing together power), detergent (cleansing qualities), and tonic (toning agent). For centuries a derivative of this bark (called salicum) was used to break fevers, soothe headaches, and reduce pain and swelling of arthritic joints. Based on studies of salicum, researchers derived a synthetic drug called "aspirin". Contains tannins good for the digestive system.

Notice:
If you are taking blood-thinning medications such as Coumadin (warfarin), heparin, Plavix (clopidogrel), Ticlid (ticlopidine), Trental (pentoxifylline), or aspirin; methotrexate; metoclopramide; Dilantin (phenytoin); sulfonamide drugs; spironolactone and other potassium-sparing diuretics; or the antiseizure drug valproic acid: It may be wise to avoid combining white willow with these substances.

Pepper powder – one of the world's most popular spices

Paprika powder - one of the world's most popular spices

Quote:

Mustard dry extract powder - Mustard seed, Sinapis alba and Brassica nigra, can be found in yellow and black varieties, respectively. This spice is common to Europe and has a sharp, musty and even bitter taste. When combined with vinegar, sugar, salt and other spices, mustard seed can be made into table mustard as we know it. Djion mustard comes from the town of Dijon on France. Folklore tells us that mustard seed has the ability to ward off evil. Keeping mustard plants around your home will keep evil spirits away.

Notice:
Mustard dry powder has been Used in Integrative Therapy in Dogs with Nervous System & Other Disorders. No relevant studies about using this supplement by human diet programs.

Quote:

Nutmeg dry extract- Nutmeg is more pungent and sweeter than mace and is instantly recognizable. The sweet but slightly bitter flavor of Nutmeg adds character to vegetables. A little goes a long way so try 1/8 teaspoon per 4 servings to start. Just sprinkle it lightly over veal, fish, or chicken for a surprising snap. Use as a topping for whipped cream, custard, and eggnog. Ground Nutmeg is an ideal baking spice and is especially complimentary in sweet breads, cakes, muffins, cookies, and fruit pies.

Quote:

Caraway seed extract - aromatic seeds of the caraway plant; used widely as seasoning

Notice:
Caraway seed can be used to make a tea to be used after radiation treatment. To prevent nausea, hold a slice of fresh ginger in your mouth while undergoing therapy.

Quote:

Chromate- Chromates and Dichromates are salts of chromic acid and dichromic acid, respectively. Chromate salts contain the chromate ion, CrO4-2, and have an intense yellow color. Dichromate salts contain the dichromate ion, Cr2O7-2, and have an intense orange color.

The final epilogue of this research is left to you. YOU should be the one who’ll decide to use or not to use this product.

The facts summary

The negative facts are:
- The distributor company hides relevant information and don’t present possible side effects of this spice pills
- There’s no company info and no one can determine the correct company source
- The weight loss effects are emphasized in comparison to real results
- The before after photos on their web site testimonials doesn’t look convincing
- Some of spice ingredients could be very harmful, mostly for women in pregnancy, breastfeeding mothers, infants, children or people with gastrointestinal disorders or diseases
- The price is too high

The positive facts:
- Some of ingredients could help to burn your fat faster, but only in limited quantity
- Most of the people reports regular pills delivery
- They use secure online order over (Canadian cc processor directgateway.com, the property of paradivision.com from Montreal). Therefore, I think it’s a small chance that someone could steal your CC number

My name is Karen and I was checking out some posts on the internet regarding the Maggie Drozd diet plan. I recieved my diet plan yesterday (2-16-06), and reading through the book I did not find anything regarding dairy, other than cheese. My question is to anyone who has tried it...Can you have milk on this diet plan or is that eliminated? I don't normallysprinkle bran on my food, but I have bran cereal and was wondering if I could eat a bowl of bran cereal w/ 2% milk along with my poached eggs in the morning for breakfast. I'm not sure where milk, yogurt, and other dairy, fit into this plan or even if it does. I am hoping that someone can give me insight on this if you are having success with this diet. I started it today.
