I have aortic valve stenosis and I will go to have aortic valve replacement. I wanted to inform myself more about it and I found a couple of books where I could read everything I wanted to know. But I also read that babies can have aortic valve replacement. Can somebody tell me something about aortic valve replacement and babies? Thanks!

It happens that some babies are born with an already narrowed aortic valve. In most cases, doctors don't know why a heart valve fails to develop properly, but it isn't something you could have prevented. In babies, surgical treatment is a valvotomy, a procedure that splits the deformed valve leaflets to enlarge the opening without having to replace the valve.
