I was not aware of that being as part of diabetes. What sort of diabetes are you referring to?

hi.im 21 years old.and i have had a black spot for more than 4 years. it is actually only one in my left eye that i see almost all day long, specially when there is light. how is that ppossible when it is known that it comes with aging, and how come i only have one. ît doesnt change in shape nor in size. it has always been the same. would this black spot cause problems in the future?? and i dont believe that drugs have anything to do with this, knowing that i had this condition before becoming havy weed smoker.

Hello everyone, I am a 13 year old male, and I started having ringing in my ears about 2 months ago along with short headaches. Just 2 weeks ago I saw a black spot in my vision and just assumed it was nothing. I had maybe 3 or 4 of these in the last 10 days or so, but just today I have started seeing many and many differed colored spots all over. The colores include off-wide, black, purple, and yellow. I have seen over 15 black spots in the last couple hours and saw a huge one while I was typing this. I have read that these can be signs of migranes, but I am not getting headaches after them. Also, sometimes when I stand up I will become very lightheaded and see all green and pink perfectly round spots, but this goes away after about 10 seconds and only happens every once in a while. I'm getting an MRI in a few days to make sure there isn't anything like a tumor causing my ringing, headaches, and lightheadedness. These things are driving me nuts!!!

I think I may have this black spots problem, but I see these black spots and then... Nothing. They cover my whole field of vision and all I see is black. I am only 13 and I have no idea what this is. In fact, the blackness lasted longer just today and it made me dizzy and I almost passed out? What's wrong with me!?

I have had these "floaters" since I was very little. I remember lying under a tree when I was 4 or 5 and seeing them in the sky. As I have gotten older I have been able to see past them. They are always there and regardless if I am concentrating and not moving my eys, they continue moving all over. I have always thought that it was weird, but never worried too much about them.

I was video chatting with my girlfriend and we were both watching a video that was really hilarious, but I got serious when she started looking as if she had something (after laughing really hard), she went to the bathroom and after a while came back and told me that she had seen some black spots and then she only saw black for like 5 seconds. This made me worry, because I really love her and I don't want anything to happen to her, but I ended up in here 5 min. after that as I told her I would "investigate" because as I said, I was worried sick. After reading your posts and seeing how common (sort of) this seems to be, I am happy and relieved to know that it is harmless and I do not need to be worried after all. Still, I will tell her to visit an ophthalmologist to be sure that she has no problem. What I think was the cause, was the constant laughing, because she was laughing really hard and stopped as she saw these "floaters". Her body (without a steady supply of oxygen) should have been overstressed from laughing so hard, maybe that caused the black spots on her vision. I can't tell more, that is all I can say. Thanks for the information everybody, you made me feel WAY better. :)

Lately I've been getting the black spots as well and I'm only 13. They started when I started wearing glases for my astigmatism problem (when I can't see far away). So I've been ignoring it for a while. Then I read a booklet that said people who see floating circles or black spots have diabetes. My mum and dad's family have had Diabetes but...I just don't know. They come and go most of the time BUT I've never had it before until december or so. Is there really no advise but besides to ignore it?

With your family history it would be a wise idea to tell your doctor. He may want to run test to rule out the possibility of Diabetes.

Hi there... my son, 10 yrs old, told me this morning that he's been seeing a black spot that has sort of arms on it, and that it makes things blurry around it. He started wearing glasses two years ago. He said later that it "goes away" when he's wearing his glasses. Or perhaps (I'm thinking) that it's less obvious, because the glasses make everything else more detailed so he becomes less aware of it?
I have often been aware of "floaters" myself - not black spots, but like see-through circular floating blobs that are tiny, and that move around as I move my eye... mostly when I look at a clear sky or a smooth surface... I've always just thought that it's like microscopic dust particles that get in ones eye... with my son mentioning this black spot thing, I'm a bit worried, esp after some of the posts here.

He did have a nasty fall 2.5 years ago and gashed open the back of his head and got 5 stitches. I'm wondering if that could have anything to do with it?

I have had the floaters just like you describe them for many years and they are not a problem. I think you should see a doctor about that black spot. I've never had anything like that. I don't know what a detached retina looks like but that can happen from a bang on the head.

Hello Everyone,

My mother is 50 years old and for the last few months she has been experiancing black spots in her vision.
Also to this she has been getting headaches in the mornings and slowing fading throughout the day.
5 weeks ago she began to get very dizzy and fell.
When taken to hospital she was diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumour due to it's location.
She had been experiancing these black spots to the location of the tumour being so close to her optic nerve.
She had dismissed visiting her GP thinking it was just poor eyesight.
I would recommend that if you are experiancing any of these symptoms to visit your GP.
Don't mean to worry any of you xxxxx

hey everyone, i'm a 16 year old male. I've had these floaters since i was little and i also have a tiny black dot in my vision - just one, I've had this for as far as i can remember. The black dot floats around as well, except it's much darker than the floaters, i was never really bothered about these neither have i consulted a doctor. I just got used to them in my vision, and i haven't thought about them for a long time. The floaters just vanish sometimes and reappear instantly, but i have the black dot all the time.
I was just doing my work today when i realized that i still had these in my vision, i just got curious about this thing and searched the web, and all these posts has made me feel better.
