I was a bit of a drinker before I started Duloxetine, but now that I've been on it I find it harder to stop, and when I do drink I overindulge and end up having blackouts. I haven't had them since my early 20s when I drank to excess clubbing. But now it's scary as I only drink what I normally do but have conscious blackouts, remember nothing, not even how I got to bed. And I also find myself craving alcohol more with these tablets. I'm finding it hard to stop, but these effects are turning me into a different person- one I don't like. And not remembering things is frightening. Good to know I'm not alone. I can't tell anyone I know as I'm very embarrassed about it.

It’s really brave of you to share this. Duloxetine can sometimes amplify cravings or intensify the effects of alcohol for some people, which might explain why you’re experiencing blackouts and a stronger pull to drink. Blackouts can be dangerous and scary, so it’s important to address this.

You’re not alone in feeling this way, and there’s no shame in reaching out for help. Consider speaking with your doctor they won’t judge you and can adjust your medication or offer support to manage cravings. In the meantime, try to create some distance from alcohol, even if it’s one small step at a time, and remind yourself you’re taking control to protect your health and well-being.
