I am a male age 63 and in Fall of 2013, spring of 2015 and spring of 2016 and once again in June of 2017 I have had blood in urine and of course the urologists send me for CT and then Scope me. Very expensive. every time they have said they see kidney stones that should pass when they break free. Finally they did in 2015. However I have some flank pain (not severe) and pass tissue like stuff in the urine. June 1st it was very bloody then again very bloody with lots of tissue stuff coming out with it on June 9th. The urologists all say they have tested cells for cancer and thats not it. They really do not know where the blood is coming from and they just said see if I can come in while it is happening so they can scope me and see where the blood is coming from. This has been going on for 3 1/2 years now with UTI symptoms most of the time. Kind of scary and no diagnosis. Any ideas?

There are so many things It could possibly be, Im not trying to scare you are anything but its best to be aware of what could cause Urinary bleeding. The doctor cant say they dont know where the bleeding is coming from its obvious they dont know what they are doing. 1. A Urinary tract infection 2. Kidney infection which could describe your flank pains because i went through the same thing a month ago. 3, A Bladder or kidney stone. 4. Enlarged Prostate 5.Kidney disease. Which i might be going through as well at this moment cause urinary bleeding and symptoms of glomerulonephritis, which causes inflamation of the kidneys. I am going in for a Abdominal ultrasound a colonoscopy and a endoscopy. Also a stool sample which would test any blood in your stools which could be a sign of gastrointestinal bleeding. 6. Inherited disorder 7.Kidney injury 8. Medications Symptoms of Bladder cancer usually is associated with blood in the urine such as rust colored and passing of tissue or clots or blood. Also to me it might sound like you have Renal papillary necrosis which is often occurs with analgesic nephropathy. the damage to one or both kidneys by overexposure to pain medications. But other causes are Kidney infection and urinary tract blockage. The symptoms are back pain or flank pain, bloody, cloudy, dark urine, tissue pieces in the urine.
I would get a urine test done and a physical examination and cystocopy done by urologist to know more etiology. I am not a doctor and I know this might not help but I hope it helps a little. Best of luck and i hope you feel better soon.
