Hi, I have a question concerning bone scan. How is it done? Does it require any preparation in advance?

Hi, bone scan is done to provide your doctor with a functional image of your bones. So, any diagnose can’t be done without getting a picture of inside state of bones. Usually, it is done if any abnormalities such as cancerous cells are suspected to be present in bones. A radiotracer is a injected into the blood stream to enable measuring. The bones absorb the radiotracer they way they absorb calcium. Special radioactive camera creates image and shows any area where too much or too little of the radiotracer has been absorbed.
