I really am amazed at how many other people go through this. I have been doing this a few times a year for the past 20+ years. Nobody can explain it to me, but I really wish it would go away. I too get freezing cold but so sweaty. Thank you all for the post and I too hope you all get better.

Crazy to see so many other people with symptoms just like mine, or similar.

30 yr old female
4-5 episodes/year for past 5 years
Episode description: starts with grumbling in stomach and sharp tight pain, run to bathroom but it is seemingly impossible to pass BM as pain intensifies, begin to sweat profusely dripping wet and must take off all my clothes, lose hearing and sight as if i am going to pass out, lie on the cold floor...eventually push some hard stool out in excruciating pain...start to feel a little better right after...but soon gets bad again with diarrhea. Once everything seems like it's emptied out, pain subsides. The chills continue the rest of the night.

There have been at least 4 times I felt like I was going to die mid-episode.

No food allergies. I think it might be a mix of constipation, dehydration and another GI specific issue, but still can't pinpoint what that is. Ive always felt like the first stool (generally hard) acts like a cork, trapping the rest of the acidic diaherrea inside my GI tract for too long, which causes the pain. Like harmful build up that while and until it's fully released will wreak havoc on your body.

I am a 57 year old white female and this just happened to me today. It happened twice today so far. I made deviled eggs and ate 3 maybe 5. After eating lunch I had abdominal pain so severe I almost passed out. I went to the bathroom and sat on the toilet knowing I was about to have a bowel movement and I started belching. I broke out in a sweat but it was a clammy sweat then I would get cold. All I wanted to do was lay down. The pain was horrible. And it happened again about a hour ago. I have never felt such pain in my abdominal area. I saw on here where someone I think posted something about eggs. I don’t know what caused it but whatever it was I do not want any more of it.

I have similar symptoms, but I have been told by a Chinese physician that I have an overall weak stomach anyway (I was treating my menstrual problems at the time).

I'm 20 years old now, my first episode started around 5-6 years ago. The first time it happened it might've been due to caffeine? Caffeine does make me purge, usually after half an hour or so of consuming coffee etc.

I get regular stomach pains and grumbling intestines (in my opinion nothing too severe, just regular signs of having to pass motion soon), then upon trying to start bowel movement, I start to feel faint, cold sweat, nausea. Usually I have a very strong urge to just lie down and pass out. I have tried vomiting (more like retching, really. Nothing much to vomit) halfway and continued passing motion. It helped just a little. Usually in these episodes, it's mostly diarrhea, and very hard to pass.

Mine does happen midday though. Not only through the night.

No food allergies, and I do consume dairy almost daily now, and these episodes are probably not due to it. However, I had some milk tea and cheese rings before bed last night, and started a cleanse thing where I eat a packet of berry enzyme (apparently will encourage a lot bowel movement), also taken before bed, and I woke up with the urge to go, and ended up with cold sweat etc. After I managed to pass one stool, I quickly went back to bed, but the stomach pains were still present. I had to go for round two, this time I ended up napping on the bathroom floor for a minute or two. It took me awhile, but I managed to pass another stool, had to lie on the floor again, went back up to force diarrhea out, then finally went back onto the floor again. I was really weak.

Yogurt, yogurt and more yogurt.

I have been dealing with vagal nerve issues for over 17 years. It's due to lack of flora and fauna in our digestive system. My main issue for this was receiving lots of antibiotics as a child and young adult. Ear infections and strep throat. After years of taking antibiotics it cleared out my system and detoured the production of good bacterias. Probiotic pills and liquids don't cut it for me, only consuming yogurt and kefir drinks. Cut back on spices and foods high in fat.

Hope this helps.

I have suffered from episodes like this for about 10 years now. I am currently 32 years old. I get cramping and know that I only have about 2 minutes to get to the washroom. I break into a heavy sweat, end up taking all of my clothes off. I have such suvere pain in my bowels that I can barely sit up. Sometimes I have to literally lay on the floor and deficate. I have been told this is called defication syncope. But that doesn't explain the pain that is cased durring these episodes. If anyone finds an answer I would love to hear any suggestions. This affects my daily life so much as I suffer from anxiety as well so when one of these attacks comes on (which is totally random) I have to be near a washroom. I get so scared that this is foing to happen that I have a hard time leaving my house for long periods of time.

Omg!!! I’m so thankful for finding this blog!! As far as I know, I’m the only person, within my group of family and friends, that these horrific episodes happen... I also attribute them to severe constipation.. There were times when I wouldn’t have a bowel movement for a week, at times longer!! ... I began using Milk of magnesia and or suppositories when I haven’t gone for a couple days... No word of a lie.. I never go through them anymore and it’s been a couple years now!! ...Trust me, I can relate to mostly everyone here.. passing out/ really hot /sweating profusely and horrific cramping.. feel like you’re on deaths door.. I couldn’t hold my head up.. omg.. just thinking about them .. freaks me out!! .. I know suppositories sound gross but believe me.. they have saved me!!! Good luck to all and I hope this helps

Omfg I think I finally figured out I'm not the only one. I get all the same symptoms as everyone else. Often it would happen after I eat too quick or have a big meal. Anyway,I feel like I need to go for a sh*t,comes out hard, but then it gets to ft and liquidy and has a unique nasty smell. Then I get stomach cramps, real bad,I get naseous and often vomit. I get cold sweats and sweat profusely I mean so bad that my mouth gets so dry because I'm dehydrated from all the sweating. I feel dizzy and I flop around in extreme stomach pains. My main problem is that the stomach pains and the extreme nausea lasts from 12-18 hours before I start to feel better. It would happen anywhere from 2-8 times per year always the exact same thing each time. I would dial 911 and go to the hospital cause I just couldn't take it anymore. Here is where is gets screwed up. The only way I would feel relief is if I take malox,or bizmuth and out on an iv and morohine. It would only last about 8-12 hours, but I can never expect the ambulance to take me to the same hospital, therefore half the time I'd get no opiates of any kind except for being on an iv and given malox for the stomach cramps, but if I don't get morphine it still would last up to 18-20 hours before feeling better. So,because I felt like they treated me like a junkie for asking for morphine, even though it is very obvious that I'm in pain. After about 8-12 trips to the emergency room here half the time they leave me suffer, perhaps cause I happen to be in methadone, which has absolutely nothing to do with it. This is my home remedy,I drink lots of water, take malox,or bizmuth and take gravol regularly and her is the key,u need to find anytype of opiates. Because I'm on methadone I take a higher dose of opiates then recommend. I would inject ,just like at the hospital mind u,when they gave it to me,anyway I'd take a few 4mg dilauidid, and or a 24mg hydromorp. That's me,if you've never taken opiates then even the smallest dose will help. Fo with morphine since it's 8 times less strong than Dilaudid for example. Even those pills that are like 5mg oxy and 500 mg aceteminophine. If ur not used to opiates take the minimum amount u can find, otherwise you'll wanna vomit so take that into consideration. I don't want to turn anyone into opiates but if u only take it when u get sick you'll be fine. Wtf should we suffer because the doctors don't know what I have. Let alone the pricks that think I'm there for a morphine shot when I can buy heroine , or any type of opiate pills that are easy to find. Know what I mean. I inject because it works the fastest ,just like they would at any hospital, but I don't recommend that unl ss you've injected yourself before. Swallow it or crush the pill and snort it for a faster reaction time. I know some might say wtf,but why is it ok if it's in a hospital setting. The wait time is ridiculous when ur in this much pain, and even dialling 911 still takes a good hour or two before u get anything at the hospital, and that's if they en give u a shot of morphine. It takes everything I said, otherwise there's no point. When it happens I take my home remedy and it never last longer then 12 house give or take. Trust me it works. It would be unbearable so u had to find my own solution since the specialist couldn't figure out what I have. Now it's been over a year since I had a full blown episode, and I say it's because the second I get the first symptom I take my home remedy solution and believe me it works wonders,at least or unil they can figure out what I have and fi nd a solution that works, until then I will keep doing what I gotta do in order no to suffer. I hope this helps. Take care all and good luck :)

I hate you all are going through this yet I am also glad I’m not the only one the first time this happened to me was 4 yrs ago I was 8 months pregnant with my second child. Until today that was my worst episode. I’ve had it happen a few time but not too bad well today was the worst one yet. It started fine just thought I had to use the bathroom went in sat down (I am sharing the TMI because some people need to know I saw some post sorry for being gross or too much but those details are what I was looking for) started with firm stool then the cramps and abdominal pain hit it was so severe I got nauseous that’s when the feeling of being cold hit me but I was sweating profusely then the dizziness hit with the feeling of passing out. I was here with my 4yr old and 8yr old so the fear of passing out scared me that they would panic but my 8yr Old proved helpful she brought me a cold rag and cold water and call my husband and played with our 4yr Old till he got here. But anyway I was sitting there on the verge of passing out my ears stopped up and everything was muffled I was sweating yet cold head laying on the counter next to me arms dangling my arms and legs went numb I couldn’t even lift them my stomach was contracting I was breathing heavy and moaning with every breathe when the pass out feeling finally passed my ears popped and sound came back but I was still so weak I couldn’t lift my arms or head so I just laid there till I could move all through this I would have a hard stomach contraction and use the bathroom it started out hard stool by the end was loose. I have had two c-sections and a thumb tack pierce my eye followed by several severe eye surgeries and nothing could compare to this pain I thought I was dying even might have begged for it to come. This started at 830 am it is now 1220pm and I am still queasy and so weak. I am saddened to see several of you said the doctors have no explanation. Tests and appts haven’t help figure out what’s going on. For me I haven’t eaten anything abnormal from my usual that would seem to cause this I am a couple days away from that monthly monster. Which I’ve read when it comes hormones increase causing you to have to go a lot before it starts. I just wish a doc would figure this out because it was a horrifying experience and I felt like I was going to die. That may sound silly to some but until you’ve gone through it, it can’t be understood.

I thought I was the only one that this was happening to. This happen last night. I got up and quickly walked to the bathroom. I started to sweat and feel dizzy. I yelled at my husband to come help me. He held me up so I didn’t fall on the floor. My arms and legs went numb and acted like they didn’t want to work. Scary stuff!!

Hi everyone,

This is exactly what happened to me this morning. I experienced all of these symptoms and now I feel weak, cold and tired. I think that constipation is the reason behind all of it. For the past three days I haven't had a good bowel movement, I wake up with a bubbling feeling in my belly then I experienced all of this. I think that our body is going through shock trying to push out everything in one setting. From now on, I will take a laxative of something before this happens again. I think the key is to use the restroom daily, make the diet changes necessary for this to happen.

I have had the symptoms you’ve all described for about 20 years. It seems we are all experiencing the same things and the common denominator seems to be the bowel movement or difficulty having the bowel movement. My dr told me that this difficulty is what brings on the symptoms we are all experiencing. She said in order to avoid the constipation that brings on the hot/cold flashes, the tingling, the pain, the dizziness, the fainting, etc., we have to either get more fiber into our diets or take something like Metamucil each day. Of course, I ignored what she said and had an episode today. Pain, tingling in fingers, hot flashes, nausea - all of it. I was constipated, finally passed it, had the diarrhea, collapsed on the bed exhausted. I feel ok now and am on my way to the store to get Metamucil. I’m not good about religiously taking medication the way you’re supposed to, but I’m determined to do whatever is necessary to avoid another episode like the one I had today.
