So glad I googled this ...I have had spine freeze since having a ruptured appendix 25 years ago ...It went undetected for 9 days and so they had to put in a drain tube to get rid of all the infection ....( thankful to be alive)
as with all of you , People think Im crazy

I also get back freeze after I drink a slush from Sonic. My family think that I'm strange, they never heard of anyone getting back freeze

I also get this, the roof of my mouch starts hurting first it's unbearable then starts the pain in the center if the spine, it's when I drink something very cold like a McDonald's Carmel frappe, I associate it with a brain freeze but only in my back, everyone else thinks I'n crazy, I had fractured my vertabtea many years ago and the pain is right where my injury was so I thought it was a nerve thing but don't really know

I get brain freeze in the middle of my back that is so painful! Been having it there for years when I eat or drink something really cold. Like all of you, people think I'm nuts when I tell them to rub my back, please!! So weird!!

Just googled this, and I am SO glad I am not the only one! Before spine freeze I was having heart/chest freeze! It was the weirdest sensation, plus I had a moment of paralysis because of the pain. I still don't understand why I get this while eating/drinking really cold stuff. It's even weirder how the cold sensation went from "freezing" in my chest to my spine.

I don't think thats weird at all. I went from brain freezing to midspine freezing. I bet you it's been 20 years since I've had a brain freeze. These days its all midspine freeze for me. I don't know which is worse, pain that feels like your heads in a vice, or pain that feels like knife in the back. Six in one, half dozen in the other I guess. I'm just thankful its stupidity that brings it on and not some major health issue. I've learned to drink and eat cold things slowly these days but every now and then the brain is not paying attention to what the lips are doing and BAM that kinda pain has a way of snapping you right back to reality toot sweet, lol

I get it too; right between my shoulders! It takes a while for it to go away, too. I thought I was crazy, and I was afraid to tell anybody.

Same here!!! My friends always think I'm nuts when I describe. I finally decided to Google it since I got a slush drink from Sonic tonight, and of course my back is in agony. The only thing that helps is swallowing a warm tator tot! ;)

I had this happen last night first time and freaked out. Husband didnt believe me. When Id eat the hot Mexican food it would help. It was extremely cold out and the drink Margarita seemed much colder than our usual place. So glad to know what caused it now. Thanks to writer of Esophal spasm.

I am glad to see I'm not crazy!  I get the ''backfreeze" too, whenever I have a frozen margarita or slushy.

I'M NOT ALONE!!!  I get a "shoulder freeze" when I should be getting a brain freeze and it's the stupidest thing ever.  I DO have chronic shoulder pain and so whoever's dad said, "it hits the weakest part of your body", actually makes a lot of sense lol.  I'm glad I googled this subject after all these years and found you guys!

I get this also. Breathe into your hands to warm the air and them breathe it back in. This will help the pain to go away.
