I just had the procedure done on 6/20/12 and have had alot of chest pain.  It is very aggravating, but I don't have any probs swallowing.  No appetite so I hope the results come out ok. They want me to eat greasy foods, but i can barely eat anything. It's not the horror story I have been reading about, but i would not want it done again. I slept comfortably lying down suprisingly and had more problems while sitting up.

I had my first Bravo done 2 years ago after attempting the 24 hr manometry ph test first (and failed at that miserably and had them remove it after only 1.5 hrs!).  Bravo is MUCH more tolerable and less barbaric than manometry. I just had my second Bravo test last Thursday and still have the capsule in my esophagus (it's now Tuesday). The first time the capsule dislodged about day 5. Both times it has been very uncomfortable and at times painful especially when I eat or drink. Some days it hurts worse than others. No, this isn't a fun test but in my case I had tried EVERYTHING to figure out what was wrong with me (over a course of 10 yrs) and this was the ONLY definitive test that showed what was going on (I ended up having a Nissen 2 yrs ago). They do recommend you eat and drink the things that make your reflux symptoms flare up during this test so they get a good reading (again, I know it's NOT fun!) It all depends on how sick and horrible you feel with your current reflux symptoms and how badly you're willing to try anything to make yourself more comfortable in the long run (and possibly prevent Barrett's or even worse). For me, it was an easy choice and I'd do it again in a heartbeat. Diet/lifestyle change, medications out the wazoo you name it I tried it with very little relief so this test was my last option. Sometimes things have to get worse before they can get better and in my case this was true. Now the waiting game begins for the results :-/

I had one done yesterday and it still hurts when I eat and drink.  I have been having some difficulty swallowing.  It is so difficult for me and I didn't know that it is so painful. I wanted to know how long will it take to fall off?  I wouldn't recommend nobody get one inserted.

I just had this procedure yesterday and boy do I wish I had googled it before I allowed my doctor to do it. This is horrible!! I also feel constant pulling and pinching pain in my chest, I can't eat much because it hurts so bad to swallow and was up almost all night last night due to pain. I called the doctor's office today and the nurse told me she had never heard of anyone having pain or issues with the BRAVO capsule which I find very difficult to believe since I have had such horrendous pain. I realize this post is quite some time after the original post, but I wanted anyone who read this to know you weren't the only one who experienced terrible pain, much more than the "minor discomfort" I was told this would be.

So glad I found this. I feel like I'm going crazy. Had EGD with Bravo placement yesterday...sedatives did NOT work, I was awake for the whole thing gagging and crying. It HURTS to eat and drink. Worse than regular heartburn. It is pressure, feeling like my esophagus is going to explode :(. I just want this to be done with. Dr. saw burns in my esophagus and prescribed me medication but I'm suffering from this hurt in my chest-thinking it's the Bravo, and like many of you I was told I wouldn't feel it at all. HA! Hope you all get answers and feel better soon :/

I had the BRAVO test done on Aug. 27th and today is Sept. 1st. I am still in pain. I have pain when I eat and sleep too, I have lost 7 lbs. I don't know if a heart attack pain would be much different. I don't think my camera is gone or the pain would ease up. The doctor told me that most people don't feel it but I did and do!

I had the bravo done yesterday.  I wasn't in major pain until the evening time. It was pretty bad. I could only eat soup for dinner very slowly. I called the GI dr and was told to take some Advil. I took sleep Advil to help me sleep and thank God it did help a bit. I woke up feeling a bit better but I can still feel the ph probe everytime I swallow anything. Even spit. It does hurt, praying this helps. I found out a few months ago I have Barrett's.  I never have had acid reflux in my life.  After I got diagnosed I started having major throat issues. Just praying for healing and fixable answers.  Good luck to you all.

Day 5 and still in pain.  My doc recommended I be off my acid blocker meds for 7 days prior and during the 48hr test.  When I awoke from the procedure I could feel it right away.  Trying to do anything, even drinking water was a challenge.  I would describe the feeling in my esophagus as an extreame case of sunburn and then image trying to swallow a golf ball.  I can't say I had the chest pain because I had stabbing pain that radiated up and down my back everytime I ate.  When it got to the chip, I could feel it try to scrape by.  I also wound up throwing up twice that night (docs claim it was a stomach bug).  That took the cake as it exaserbated the entire experience and only set my insides on fire.  Trying to stay true to the test, I resisted the urge to take anacids or other meds.  The test was awful and while most of the throat pain has resided, I am still feeling the back pain (and tingle up my neck) when food gets to the chip.  I've been back on prilosec for 3 days and the heartburn is gone but the pain is still there.

Note: I drank apple cider once or twice during the test when it was bad and that seemed to help with the heartburn.

Maybe it's supposed to be one of those things were you look back and say my heartburn is nothing compaired to this hell I've been throught for a week.

Me again. I forgot to mention I couldn't take ibprofen because of the biopsies and have been on Tylenol round the clock to help ease the pain.

My wife had the Bravo procedure.  Complete hell.  It has been five days of constant pain.  Not just when you eat but constant torture.  The doctors are clueless and just say take some tylenol.  Demoral would not knockout the pain.  One of the ebuttons did not work on the device.  No one in the clinic knew anything about the device and WOULD NOT pass on the name of the Bravo rep who attended the procedure.  Fortunately the device did record info so we will get to discuss in a few more days.  But the pain is so bad that my wife could not eat normally so I don't know what this is going to show.  Now they say it may take weeks for this thing to slough off and pass.  WOW!  I thought the doctor's creed was "Do No Harm."  We feel completely mislead and the people ising this technology are just clueless.  We would lawyer up in an instant if  we saw an ad on TV.  DO NOT undergo this procedure until you have done due diligence, think the side effects are worth the investigation and that you have set aside a month on your calendar to recover.  We are cancelling an upcoming vacation and missing our hs 50 class reunion because of this.  48 hour test - what a joke!

Hi. I just had it done on Friday. I feel awful. My chest hurts. I am diabetic so I have to eat. But it hurts so badly I want to yell out in pain. I will be glad when thus thing is out of my body. I just hope it doesn't have problems leaving. I already feel like cap because of what is going on with my body. But I don't need any extra pain.

I had the bravo 7 days ago, it still hurts to eat and swallow period. I'm having more acid reflux now since I took back that stupid little box that bleeped all night and day. I don't believe it worked correctly. I need to know what happens if this thing won't De-attach itself? There is a battery in this thing, could it corrode in my esophagus and cause damage? I'm really concerned about this!
