I had my bravo test done 9/12/16. It's been nine days and I'm having terrible stabbing pain from just below my rib cage through to my back. I didn't have any pain at all until day six. I haven't received any results yet.

You should not assume people are exaggerating only because you did not have any pain. Good for you if you did not, but be compassionate of others. I had this thing put in 6 days ago and it hasn't been fun. Pain behind my sternum and in my back... Stabbing when I swallow. The capsule is still there.

I am responding to this post because it is the most recent and most are from a long time ago. I was scheduled for an endoscopy, bravo and colonoscopy yesterday. (yeah, loads of fun). Decided to research the bravo as I had not heard of it. After reading all the reviews on this site, I call my Dr office wanting to cancel the bravo part! I already have pain in my esophagus, chest, abdomen and throat, trouble swallowing, etc...and the comments on here scared the heck out of me. While I believe all your stories and awful painful experiences with bravo, I just want to mention a few things for those like me who are deciding whether to have it done or not. When I talked to my Dr before my procedure, he asked why I was hesitant to have the bravo inserted. I told him about all these horrible reviews and that I was already in pain and he assured me that it is very rare that this awful pain happens (at least for his patients) and that the information they received from it was very valuable for them to diagnose and treat symptoms. And to also confirm, I talked to nurses on the phone when I first called in and they said they NEVER have anyone call in with problems. But here is the important point: my Dr also said that if my esophagus was inflamed or irritated, he would not put the bravo in. So yesterday in my procedure, my esophagus was not inflamed and he did put the bravo in and I can't even tell it is there. Had a full meal when I came home and no problems at all. I don't usually reviews/comments but I was such a wreck yesterday that they were pretty close to not doing the procedure because my blood pressure was so high. But in the end it was safe to do so they went ahead with the procedure. So, if you are contemplating having the bravo and scared to death like I was, I suggest that first off to do your research and find a good Gastroenterologist/Internist. I found one by reccommendation that is renowned in his field. I'm thinking the people who had these horrible experiences had esophagitis and/or their esophagus was inflamed and thus were not a candidate for the bravo. Or, maybe it was not inserted correctly? I am truly sorry for those of you who had painfully horrible experiences, however I wanted to post a positive experience for those out there like me who were searching and only saw horrible reviews and were scared to death to have it done. I think the key is getting the right doctor who knows what he is doing!

I had the Bravo 10/06/16. Hurt like crazy, pinching sensation, terrible pain when eating Anything! And so much belching...very painful. Had an Xray today and it's still in, 15 days and the office tells me it could take up to 2 months to pass!!! I could get another EGD but holding out a little longer. This was a last minute test doctor recommended. Both biopsy and Bravo test came back 'normal'. ?? Still have heartburn EVERYDAY, been on Prilosec and Nexium for years.

I had the Bravo put in yesterday. Last night the monitor quit working, only had Chip in about 12 hours, and I woke up during the insertion.when I called this morning to have it reset they said it's not working because the chip had probably fallen off already. Yes, I am having severe chest pain's can't eat, and had to take off work another.

I really understand how everyone feel about this Bravo thing. I just had my put on Thursday Nov.10--2016 and every since I have felt nothing but pain..Its hurts so bad..Im not talkin about when you get it put in ,im talkin about how you will feel after you get it put in..The doctor told me it wouldnt hurt plus you can eat with it in,,,well thats all was a lie....It do hurts like hell plus you cant eat with it in cause everytime you swallow it fell like you swallowing a big rock cover in razor blades..If I knew this was going to be so painful I would have never had this put inside of me..I really do think that every Doctor should explain to every person about how this work plus the pain that you feel cause this sh*t hurts like hell..I cant even lay down or do some of the he things I use to do cause im always in pain from this Bravo in me..(I really hate the way I feel) Cant wait till all of this over and done with cause it's no need for anyone to have to go through some like this...I was only trying to feel better by having this procedure but instead of that,,i am feelin worser than I have ever felt before...I hope and pray that anyone who are planning to have this procedure done please ask the Doctor that is doing it many question and what type of pain you will have and if he or she say none please tell them that's a lie cause it will be very painful...thats the honest GOD truth cause im going through it right now as I type this message.....Every one please pray for me and hope this shall pass and dont for get the words that you have just read cause it is all true......(JUST ALIL SOME TO THINK ABOUT)

Hi there,
How are you feeling now? I got mine done last Friday and have been in complete torture since. Can't eat or swallow without complete pain. Sleeping has been hard also. They did give me a strong pain med that i'm going to try today and hope it helps. Hope you are doing better. Definitely don't think it is worth the pain and they do lie and say you won't feel it...maybe a few don't but I think from reading these post a lot of people are in pain with it.

I had the bravo capsule without anesthetic, had the throat spray. I did feel chest pain on eating so resulted to soft food and liquids for about 3 days or the pain got worse if I got too anxious, but the pain gradually faded away eventually. If I was needing to measure acid reflux again I would definitely do it this way again rather than a tube down my nose into the esophagus as I tried it originally this way and failed on attempt 4

I had this procedure done 1day ago. Doctor also said you may have a sore throat, no sore throat. I've been uncomfortable since I came out. Last night I woke feeling like I was having a heart attack( horrible). Not bad today still uncomfortable. Monitor comes off tomorrow. I really don't know why some people have these problems....you will be fine. At least you know what to expect, I never looked it up.

I can't eat. How will they be able to test PH. The 2nd day the wave of pain was about every minute. So much for pushing the button. It hurt so bad I drew up and couldn't push the button until it was over. I would be pushing the button every minute.
I am suppose to have the strength of my esophagus measured tomorrow. This is all done before my surgery.

My husband had this procedure done yesterday and I am happy that I found your postings as he is experiencing feelings of discomfort, severe reflux, and esophageal spasms. We were told to eat soft food for the first 48 hours then crispy type foods to help dislodge the capsule. I feel more comfortable knowing that this seems to be a common occurrence with this procedure.

NOT BAD AT ALL! I had the capsule inserted 24 hours ago and have had no discomfort whatsoever. It doesn't hurt. There is a slight feeling of pressure, somewhat akin to a small item lodged in the esophagus, but it isn't painful and most of the time I am not aware of it. I am careful to chew everything most thoroughly so as not to dislodge the capsule, and on occasion I can feel food or drink moving past it. That's it. Perhaps any pain can be traced back to the training and experience of the person inserting the capsule.

I had mine done 3/2/17 and I have barely eaten my self, when I do I start coughing and feels like I am choking and at times I feel like I can't breathe. The worse part is they asked before the procedure if I had chest pain ... no just reflux and heartburn almost all day long. Well now it feels as if my 137 lb mastiff is sitting on my chest. This is insane uncomfortable my ass. I wish these dr had these procedures done before they can say how it feels. I just open the web to this tonight and 6 different sites with countless stories of agony and pain. How is their statistics even accurate and some are dating back to 2008.

i want to agree with you totally, i was scheduled 3 months ago and i freaked out over all the bad stuff i heard, i cancelled the procedure, then i saw my dr and he asked why i cancelled and that test was an important one for me to do, he reassured me and then i spoke with my gastro who said after placement he goes back down your esophagus to make sure it didn't slip or it was still in place, had it done this morning and so far the only discomfort is swallowing food i do feel it but its tolerable and i guess i will try and take smaller bites, i don't think i will have any problems with sleep but we will see!
