Hi,

I am 23 years old. At the end of March I noticed slight brownish-pinkish discharge after using the washroom. It was quite noticable during intercourse and for about a week afterward was noticable enough to wear a liner during the day, but is not a suspected period. It got really light thereafter and turned to a brownish clot-like discharge and only was seen when using the restroom and a little in my panties. Still continuing today a month later. Not quite sure what is going on, there is no itching, burning, or foul smells, no cramping or nausea. Feeling fine otherwise. I have been with the same sexual partner for 8 years and I have two children. I am not on any sort of birth control. I had my last child 10 months ago, and have had normal periods up until this past month. I have heard of spotting during pregnancy but I thought it only lasted a few days, this has been going on almost everyday now for a month. I really don't think it is pregnancy, since it's not really light and an on-going problem for several weeks. I did get a reply earlier however I was wondering if anyone lese is experieencing symptoms simular or has any other suggestions or advice as I just moved here and am on a waiting list for a doctor.
Thanks

Melissa

Have you eventually got your period? If not, the discharge you are having could be as a result of some bacterial infection. Your story reminded me of my friend’s as she used to have problems with this brownish vaginal discharge for weeks. It all started when her period finished, she firstly thought it was a prolonged period as she could have cought some cold or her ovaries were inflamed as previously she had been at night swimming at the pool.
But she was receiving brown discharge that she also said had no odor since then every week or so. It lasted for about a month and then she went to the gynecologist and was tested on Chlamydia. The results were positive and she has immediately given a treatment. She has been on therapy for half a year now and still hasn’t cured the bacteria.
This is one possible reason of brown discharge occurring and I think you would be calmer if you done a test on Chlamydia. If this results come out negative, then you should contact your gynecologist!

Hi Jenny,

Thanks for the reply. The discharge has stopped a few days ago, however I have not got my period as of yet. The last time I had a period was the second week in March for about 7 days. It was the end of march when I started getting the discharge, I didn't get a period (I don't think) in April since I had the discharge everyday for the whole month, I don't count that, as it was not nearly enough to be a period, and why would it last so long.
I dismiss the idea of chlamydia as I have been with my husband for almost nine years. The symptoms of Clamydia develop one to three weeks after sexual contact with an infected person. Neither of us have been with any other sexual partners in nine years.
I didn't have any other symptoms at all, no feeling of illness what so ever.
However, I am glad that the brown discharge has finally stopped and normal white discharge is back. I'll be in waiting to see if my period returns like normal this month I'd be due around this time if I go from March' dates.
I am sorry to hear that your friend contracted chlamydia and that treatment still didn't take affect even after a year. Most times with antibiotic treatment the infection ceases after a few weeks.

Thanks again for your reply.
