This just happened to me But it was after I think I got food poisoning from a lunch able. Earlier I ate one and almost 20 minutes after my stomach hurt, I was dizzy/ nauseous and my whole body was shaking uncontrolably. Then when that subsided I was left with a tingling anus every time I walk. I'm so lost right now.

I am having this sensation too- some kind of tingling sensation in the anus area- initially I thought it was diarrhoea and that stool was leaking but when I checked it was not so. I have had it only the last 2 days at night just before going to sleep, when I am lying down. It just lasts for about 5 to 10 seconds but is intense enough to be noticed and to make me feel anxious.

I have it, too. I'm wondering if it is a "buzzing" caused by a fluttering, tiny valve in a vein in the area. Veins have tiny valves so that the deoxygenated blood can travel back to the heart without any back-flow. Arteries--that carry oxygenated blood away from the heart--don't have the tiny valves.

Since the rectum/anus area is kind of an evolutionary weak area blood-vessel-wise (hence all the hemorrhoids), a fluttering tiny valve could have its signal picked up by a close-by nerve, and that might explain the sensation we feel. You may not have hemorrhoids, but that area may be a somewhat weak area, or an overly stressed area for you.

Mine doesn't correspond exactly with my pulse, but if the hemorrhoid/valve theory is correct, then it might have to do with a weak-ish valve that only buzzes when the blood builds up against it, and then it flutters as it releases the pent-up blood. That might explain the rhythmic nature of the buzzing.

That's my best guess. I don't think it's dangerous or will progress to something worse. It is annoying, but... it's still good to be alive; buzzing butt and all. I'm going to try and forget about it.

I have had this in the past and was diagnosed with ulcerative proctitus 4 years ago...it can be related to that or colitis but not always..might shine some light on the subject.

I have also experienced this very weird cellphone like vibration/buzzing in my anus. It only lasts about 2-3 seconds and it doesn't hurt, though it tickels a little. It even makes a vibration sound like a cellphone. It is bizzare. I am healthy, not on any meds. 48 year old female. It happens most ofen at night. A few times it was strong enough to wake me from sleep. Ss very strange.  My doctor just said that if their's no pain or bleeding or discharge, not to worry about it.  Wish it would stop.

are you experiencing any lower back pain? It could be a pinched nerve.

I too have the phantom cell phone vibration and I drive for a living, have had back surgery in the past so I believe it is a pinched nerve. Like most "symptoms" I experience they cease on their own. However colon cancer runs in my family. I am a healthy 55 y.o female so I will follow up if it continues. Best of luck

I have this and vibrations in my legs and stomach. I read this could be a symptom of a vitamin deficiency. I was tested and sure enough I am low in B12, Vitamin D and Iron- and I'm a guy. I'm pretty sure I am low in Magnesium as most people in the USA who eat badly are. I'm trying to raise my D and B-12 and Magnesium levels and hope these vibrations stop. I get them after I eat and when I lay down to sleep at night. Sometimes they set my heart racing- which has sent me running to the ER on a few occasions. I've also read that these vibrations could be a result of Candida die-off as the vibrations started when I cut carbs and started taking a probiotic- trying to improve my gut health. Anyway- maybe this will help some of you. Take care.

I have had it on and off for some time. I thought it was sciatica related.

I've had this same sensation going on for years. It seems to happen when I'm sitting or lying down. It can literally keep me awake all night. I want to kick my legs , twist , and stretch non stop. I feel like I need to have a bowel movement, like that is causing pressure on a nerve. I also had an accident several years ago and my L4 andL5 are compressed and twisted slightly. I feel like I could loose my mind when it starts buzzing because I know sleep is out of the question at that point. If at any time I start to relax it feels like I get zapped with an electric prod. It's so interesting to hear that this is a common problem.

This started for me post surgery while on Flagyl. It hasn't stopped some months later. Off and on through most days, it is a vibration.

Hi I have had piles for a few years, but over the last few days I have also had this buzzing feeling in my bottom. I also had a bad takeaway with friends. We all became ill' I'm now worried this could be linked to what I ate?
