Hi, folks. My friend has been diagnosed with atrophic rhinitis. I know something little about this condition, but I am not sure if it can lead to a smell sense loss. That is why I came here. I hope someone will know this and share this piece of info with me. Thank you in advance.

Hi, there. Atrophic rhinitis represents a form of chronic rhinitis. Here, the lining is gets thinner and nasal passages spread. This makes mucosa become drier due to an air flow. One of the symptoms can be a decrease of smelling sense. It is also known as hyposmia. In more severe cases, there can be even a total loss of smelling sense. It is called anosmia. I hope this will help you. Good luck!
