For a long time I have been taking a combination of epileptic drugs, including Gabapentin. Everything was fine, until recently. Number of epileptic attacks is greatly decreased and I feel great! But, recently I developed some allergy on the skin. I take antihistamines, so the allergy is subdued. I do not know where the skin allergy came for. Can Gabapentin cause a serious skin allergy?

Gabapentin can cause allergic reactions. Differences between them could be in form of skin allergic changes or in much more sever shape. The substance that causes allergy could be the drug itself, some other chemicals etc. There are also sleepiness, dizziness, ataxia, and tiredness feeling. I would also check a reaction to allergens.

For 2 1/2 years i have been taking 300 mg gabapetin 3 times a day for nerve pain. Recently I have only been taking 2 times daily. That is when I have had a skin allegy. extreme itching on my feet. I have been taking benadryl for the itching and putting anti itch cream on and it does help. It started subsiding but now it has returned. Could this be from the gabapentin?
