Hi. I’ve been diagnosed with gingivitis 3 months ago. I’ve immediately started with the treatment and it is much better now. But, few days ago, maybe week ago, I’ve started experiencing some vision problems. I’m wondering if it is possible that gingivitis caused those problems??? Is there anyone here whou could tell me that?? Thanks.

Gingivitis is a specific inflammation of the gums characterized by redness, swelling and a tendency to bleed and I don’t think that gingivitis itself can cause vision problems. On the other hand, cicatricial phemphigoid (CP) which is commonly found in patients with gingivitis, can cause such problems (chronic conjunctivitis, epithelial defects, dry-eye syndrome). It is possible that gingivitis is not all you have – you should see your doc to check you for CP. Hope this answers your question.
