My mother has developed Munchausen syndrome and honestly, I am not sure what can I do about it. She became really annoying, constantly talking about some trauma she suffered when she was younger, and I just know she made that up. It looks like the only place she feels happy and safe is hospital. Anyway, can Münchhausen syndrome be treated?

Well, this syndrome is really very interesting, because people usually want to leave the hospital as soon as possible. Usually, a need for attention is their problem and sometimes there is an underlying condition causing all that. Anyway, there is no regular treatment, although, use of SSRI medications might produce some improvement in a behavior. And of course there are psychotherapy and several other forms of therapies, including family therapy.
