We are traveling in two weeks to Africa, by plane of course. The problem is because of my middle ear infection, which I am currently being treated for. Will I be able to fly, if the condition is subdued in time? I have heard that people with ear problems should not travel by plane? What should I do?

Well, the therapy should be applied properly until it is done. The infection in the ear creates the higher pressure by itself and you do not want to add the air pressure changes that might happen during a plane flight. Sometimes, auto ventilation of the ear tubes can be done and it helps, also vasoconstrictive drops should be used, antibiotics, sterile gauze helps too.
