My friends brother has survived a terrible fire accident. He is alive and operation has already been performed, but he is still having breathing difficulties. My friend did not know to tell me exactly what was going on, except that he is breathing with the help of ETT, and that he is taking Proventil and Atrovent as medications. Since he uses ETT, can those drugs be instilled directly down the tube?

Well, if the drugs cannot be applied in any other way, the drug can be given by ETT. Proventil is given for eliminating the bronchial spasms which damage the breathing process by narrowing the air paths. As for Atrovent, it is an anticholinergic and it prevents nasal secretions. I assume he is using many more medications that are probably also given by ETT or perhaps by injection in gluteus.
