iI am female, I have not had sex for over 10 years. I recently became sexualy active and now have got a bladder infection. Could this be from having unprotected sex? Also, can it spread to my partner thru intercourse?

It is very common for virgin or women who refrained from sex for a very long time, or just switched partners to develop cystitis.

Cystitis could be caused either by sexually transmitted bacteria or by gastrointestinal bacteria. If it is caused by a stb, then your partner already has it and yes, you could be passing it back and forth to each other.

If your bladder infection has been caused by gastrointestinal bacteria, then it will not be passed to your partner and you should avoid having sex until the infection clears up anyway. Your condition will be aggravated if you went on having sex with an infection.
Cystitis could also occur due to friction during sex or oversensitive bladder. It is important you drank a lot of clear liquids while you have this infection to flush out bacteria and possibly avoid or at least decrease the burning sensation.
