Hi there. My wife and I would like to try to conceive our first child in the next year. The only issue is that she suffers from celiac. Do any of you know if there are any problems that could occur because of this, that we need to be aware of before she gets pregnant? Will her pregnancy be considered high-risk because of the celiac, and is there anything we can do to make sure everything will be OK? Thanks in advance.

As far as I know, those who have lived with celiac for a while and know which foods they need to avoid can easily have healthy pregnancies. The trick is to avoid any possible cross contamination of foods as well. This is always good practice but especially important in pregnancy. One other thing that you need to be aware of is that celiac medication is not always compatible with pregnancy. Make sure to check with your doctor and pharmacist before trying to conceive.
