Hi, is there any link between autism and celiac disease? Are children with celiac disease more prone to develop autism?

It has been proven that patients with celiac disease have high levels of diabetes- and thyroid-related autoantibodies. If gluten-free diet is used the level of these antibodies decreases rapidly. This supports theory that these antibodies are gluten related. But, I don’t know of any relation between gluten and autism. If your child has gluten allergy it is important to use gluten free diet and to avoid all products containing wheat flour or other derivates of wheat. Today, many products have on label declaration that they are gluten free.
