my son pulled a heavy oak stool down on top of him it knocked him over and landed right on his head the dr. said i needed to keep him awake for 6 hrs if he seemed fine i could let him take his nap ... i hope this helps

Keep the baby awake long enough to get him/her to the emergency room. I hope you know that undetected head injuries can rapidly turn into life threatening injuries. My son had a subdural hematoma, which means that there is blood under the skill as a result of the bump. You can't "see" that type of problem by looking at the scalp. However, it can cause death depending on the severity of it. His resolved itself, but they kept him in the hospital for an entire week to be sure that he was OK. I don't know if you heard about the actress, (Vanessa Redgrave's daughter). We was having a ski lesson, on the beginners hill. She slipped and fell, and hit her head. She got up, seemed fine and never had it checked. Within 24 hours she had passed away. Head injuries can be deceiving. There could be long-term affects that you could appear long after you have forgotten about the head injury.
