I read somewhere that Mitral Valve Prolapse (MVP) is more common in people with Grave's Disease. MVP can cause a clicking sound when the doctor listens with her stethoscope. Maybe have your doctor have a listen to rule out MVP.

Hi I am a 22 year old female and I have been having this problem for a while now.
If I do a false mouvement while yawning or stretching I have this "click" in the left side of my throat under my jaw line. Once this click happens I have a shooting pain down the left side of my neck, my tongue and I have pain while swallowing. The pain can be so intense it makes me cry of pain. I have mentioned it to my doctor and he doesn't seem to care. I have tried stretching my neck for it to "click" back into place. This sometimes works. I worry about this and I am scared when I start yawning I can feel it then I will stop yawning. I have no idea what it is. I know this is an old post but I can't seem to find anything that I can relate to.

Have you been to see a chiropractor to ask for some manipulation of the area? I'm not saying it'll definitely work, but it looks like you had many tests and nothing else has helped so far. If something is out of place, maybe it's possible that manipulation over time could help put things back in place. It could be worth a shot. If it works great, if it doesn't well you won't have lost anything (except the money of course, but when something is bothering you/making your life a misery you may want to try what you can - I do anyway but everyone is different). My own issues are different from yours but chiropractic treatment from a Mctimoney chiropractor put me right again. The GP just told me to take paracetamol and if I'd only done that I'd still be in a sorry state now. My problem with my neck/shoulder btw, was very painful and was causing pain in my hands, so quite different from yours.

Hello. I occasionally get this issue, it may occur more frequently after swallowing, smoking, eating, or drinking, but it feels like things may be swelling a bit in my throat. Things like this happen in my abdomen too, on my left side. Both situations swell up and cause weird feelings, the clicking in the throat and swelling/pain in my side, but both can also be relieved with taking care of the muscles. It may sound silly, my doctor reccommended yoga for the pain in my side and after making sure I stretch out all the muscles in that region, the pain goes away. Same goes for the throat, making sure your muscles around your neck are nice and not stiff, like if you use your phone a lot or sit in one position all the time. It's important to take care of these muscles, because they can lead to tensing up around your organs/glands and causing other issues.

Hello everyone... I wanted to give a quick update to all of you going crazy with this whole throat click thing!!! To catch those up who have not read my prior posts... I woke up one morning in 2015 feeling ill and my throat began to click on every swallow. Had a fever, bloating in my left upper abdomen, high uncontrollable anxiety, food tasted bland and found it very difficult to swallow. The pop and click drove me out of my mind to the point where I joined the anxiety med bandwagon. It helped a bit but I still felt week, fatigued, feverish etc. I gradually began to regain my strength and energy back... it took about six months. I started gaining weight back and joined the holistic approach. I saw doctor after doctor after doctor. I had a full body CT done in the emergency room when I thought I was dying, had an ultrasound on my thyroid, an ultrasound under my chin to examine glands etc.. and nothing was found. Recently I visited a physical therapist as I now suffer from major neck and shoulder pain (aching, tightness etc.) the Doc recommended I have an MRI done on my cervical spine. They found a slightly stinotic bulge in my c1 c2 area in my neck and he mentioned he saw some kind of fluid around my thyroid area. He suggested I see another ENT who can examine it and diagnose. The ENT wanted to be thorough so he also sent me in for a barium swallow of the esophagus which came out good! He examined the MRI and told me it was a small cyst located on my thyroid but nothing to worry about. He stated they typically do not treat the small ones. However, after doing my research it looks like they need to be treated if they cause symptoms - my symptoms now are click/pop in my throat when swallowing, my swallow also gets stuck like I try to swallow but the muscle wont move and do its part... I end up choking. I also have cystic acne super bad... periods closer together, loss of energy still, lack of interest, low libido etc. I really want to feel healthy again guys.. I am going to be that squeaky wheel and not give up. I will see another doctor who can refer me to a specialist like an endocrinologist or a thyroid specialist. I read in my research that sometimes the cyst are hard to see due to size and location. If they are located near the back of the thyroid they are very deep and can only be seen my a heat thyroid ultrasound or MRI. I have major phlegm feeling deep in my throat that I constantly try to clear but it wont go away!!! I kept telling my husband it felt like a cyst and it had to be my thyroid... just glad to get one step closer. Start checking your list off! I am changing my diet and going to a swallow specialists as well. I will keep you all posted if/when I find out more. I believe I was in a thyroid storm and my body was trying to fight off the cyst but was weak due to adrenal fatigue from losing to much weight so quickly. Please keep me posted... I periodically check this site and would love to know more!

Were you able to see a specialist for your ongoing issue? About over a month ago is when I started to notice the clicking and difficulty in swalling. I even went to the hospital ER because It felt like I was being choked. They did perform a CT scan for my throat. Again they weren't able to see anything. Every doc says that it's my anxiety causing my throat to feel this way. My throat is giving me anxiety and that's why I'm at the doctors office to figure it out. During the past month I've been noticing every little thing that is happening with my body. It's crazy! I never paid attention to my throats before and now all of sudden I'm so fixed on it. It's hard for me to relax with this clicking sound when I swallow. So I made an appointment with an ENT but they can't see me tell sept 5. I don't know what to do at this point anymore.

Try it when the clicking starts up just as you about to fall asleep and keeps stopping you from sleeping. No smiley. Trust me.

Yeah, I'm in a bad place at the moment. Deprived sleep etc. Driving me crazy but I won't touch meds for anxiety/depression. Then you really are on the road to hell.
