Hello Ladies. I had this procedure done yesterday. Like most people I googled how bad this can be and boy o boy, I got more than I bargained for. Some of the reviews were terrible. Not going to lie, I was a little terrified.

ON a scale of one to ten with pain, it was a one (1). If would compare it to a pap, it is one level higher than that. I had no cramping, wanting to vomit, convulsions etc....This is a breeze ladies. I have had two children and I think that makes a difference since my cervix is already stretched. Please do not stress out like I did for two weeks after I read some reviews. It is a waste of good energy!!

I just had an endometrial biopsy today and here is my experience....I have been terrified for week waiting to have this procedure due to reading reviews of women who have had it done. I was stressing myself out for no reason. Experienced slight cramping afterwards but thats it. Maybe it depends on your doctor and how gentle they are. So glad its over with, but now I am stressed all over again waiting on results..ugghh!!

I feel the same way you do Amy. The excuse they give is that the insurance won't pay for a hospital hystoscopy (which would allow samples, extraction of any polyps and the viewing of insides for further diagnostic study) unless you first do the uterine biopsy. To hell with that! If there is such cause to study samples from me, it must be done under general anesthesia. I had two exploratory laproscopic surgeries before, once for suspected endometriosis, and 20 yrs. later to laser scar tissue, so it's all in how they file the paperwork. I will refuse any invasive office procedures. I have made peace with it, and that is what will be.

Incorrect. “More scary listening.... than the procedure really is”. I believed in quotes like this and people saying don’t worry. I had one today, it was the worst pain in my life. I was told to take 600 ibuprofen as they offered no other type anesthesia. I have high threshold for pain, a lifetime of horrific monthly cramps that I’ve learned to live with, but this procedure was shockingly barbaric type of insane repeated stabbing n pulling scraping pain. They told me only way to stop that type pain is an epidural or in a hospital under general enesthesia

This is some BS. I had this done a couple of days ago... this was worse than getting my tooth pulled and tooth pain... this was the worst procedure I've had to endure EVER! I must give my GYN credit for saying that was going to cramp pretty bad.. but I mean really, you can't offer pain meds for this? I've never had kids so maybe that's why it was so painful... but come on, we are not in midevil times any more.. something has got to change.

I’m 46 and had biopsy procedure today. First of all I was completely freaking out from all the reviews. I have two kids (delivered 1 with no meds) and this procedure is very painful And I barely tolerated it since it was maybe 30 seconds. They didn’t use any numbing on cervix. The scraping is what sucks and is excruciating. I started getting hot and my pain level went through the roof. Other things didn’t bother me. I had a good amount of blood afterwards and am still spotting. They told me to only take 600 mg ibuprofen but thank goodness I don’t listen well. I figured I would rather be jacked up on max meds than to regret it afterwards. Of course I wasn’t honest about what I took but I didn’t care. I know it would have been worse had I not took a high amount of meds (one 800 mg Motrin & one 600 mg Tylenol one hour before procedure and 2 homeopathic muscle relaxers Wild Harvest herbal supplement brand (God knows I needed a downer). The muscle relaxers were awesome and really helped. The procedure was done 1 1/2 hours after I took meds. I was hurting and cramping after procedure so I took 1 more 600 mg Tylenol (packed extra in my purse) about 15 min after procedure (again didn’t tell them). That worked until I got home. I’m still cramping but it’s getting better. My advice is to max out what you can take but also plan to take another Tylenol right after procedure even if it’s a low dose. It took the edge off even though my meds should have lasted a couple of more hours. Also I highly recommend taking the homeopathic muscle relaxers and bring a pad.
