My throat always feels dry and water does not help at all. I feel like I have to constantly hold in a gag. It almost feels the when you have to throw up and your holding it down just to get to the garbage can... but constantly. If I do let it go sometimes I'll have this unproductive coughing fit almost dry heaving type cough. I can't do anything anymore. Any help would be appreciated.
Omeprazole and nasal spray from ent didn't work. Oh, and this has been going on for 6 months.

Hello, I can suggest a few possibilities that you may consider discussing with your doctor:
-
Acid reflux: While omeprazole is commonly used to treat acid reflux, it may not work for everyone. Other medications or lifestyle modifications, such as dietary changes and elevating the head of your bed, might be worth exploring.
-
Allergies or sinus issues: Nasal congestion and postnasal drip can cause a persistent cough and throat irritation. If the nasal spray you used didn't alleviate your symptoms, your doctor might recommend further evaluation or alternative treatments, such as antihistamines or corticosteroids.
-
Laryngopharyngeal reflux (LPR): LPR is a type of acid reflux that primarily affects the throat and can cause a dry throat, coughing, and a sensation of gagging. Treatment may involve lifestyle changes, such as avoiding trigger foods and beverages, as well as medications.
-
Throat irritation or infection: Chronic throat irritation or infection, such as tonsillitis or pharyngitis, can lead to persistent discomfort and coughing. Your doctor may need to examine your throat and conduct appropriate tests to identify any underlying issues.
From what you said, these are my best bets.
