This is extremely helpful! I am in my 40's and this started a year ago. It is awful! My issue sounds almost exactly like yours. And yes.. tried the yeast treatment, got the UTI. This gives me a place to start really looking since none of my docs seems to have a clue.

Hello All! What a relief to find these posts. I've had severe, to mild, to completely disappearing, burning " down there". No odour, no discharge, no itching. Initially burning sensation when I peed but not the same as a UTI ( I've had two ). A pot of Turmeric and Ginger Tea sorted out the burning in my urethra. The burning elsewhere has persisted. Used Canestan and nearly hit the roof from outer and internal burning pain! Same for a Homeopathic remedy ( Himalaya V-Gel )...which got me thinking that this was not Thrush either. No fever or shivers as with a UTI so ruled out a bacterial infection. Read lots of posts on similar forums...nothing gelled exactly. Tried cold water sitz baths, apple cider vinegar, topical Colloidal Silver Gel, Organic Aloe Vera ( helped A LOT ), alcohol-free Witchhazel ( also helped ). Eating yoghurt, applying Yoghurt, taking probiotics and pretty much trying everything under the Sun. Then came across a post about Lactobacillus Overgrowth. Mimics a Yeast infection...can be mild or severe. Can have burning, or itching, or discharge or all three symptoms. Does not respond to usual meds and remedies used for Yeast infections...in fact made a whole lot worse by these meds and remedies. Lactobacillus is a naturally occurring good bacteria in the Vagina but can also get the upper hand and produce yeast-like infection symptoms. The overgrowth changes the PH balance in your Vagina making it way more acidic.Hence the burning! Simple remedy...warm water bicarbonate of soda hip-baths ( 2 cups Bicarb added to enough water to soak your nether regions ). Bicarb restores your PH balance. Also recommended, empty gel capsules filled with Bicarb, inserted into the vagina. Bicarb douches are also suggested but I wouldn't go there!. Apply organic Aloe Vera to the sensitive skin until it heals properly ( you can use the gel in wild Aloes if you are lucky enough to have them growing in your garden ). Good Luck, I sincerely hope this works for you!

I had vaginal irritation, no discharge and no smell. An older woman told me to use baking soda (bicarbonate of soda). Make a paste with water and insert it into the vagina. She said it would only take 4 days to clear up. I've done this everyday (sometimes twice a day) for about 10 days. I am optimistic that what ever it was has now cleared up and have been free of irritation for 3 days. After inserting it you need to wear a "light days" pad. At first you might have a burning sensation but it clears up after 10 - 45 minutes depending on how irritated you are. But then you have relief. It's kind of messy and can be a problem getting the paste up far enough. I ended up using a plastic syringe that you would use to give a pet liquid medicine. I cut off the tapered end so that the paste would discharge without too much effort. I'm going into this for you because I tried lots of different delivery methods in the beginning that were frustrating and painful. I hope this works for some of you. The baking soda will re-balance your PH levels. I also ate lots of yogurt and 2 probiotics everyday. Not really sure that that helped at all but of course couldn't hurt. Good luck.

I experience this and just figured out the feminine wash I am using is drying out my vulva and the skin is actually cracking although you can't see the splits in your skin you are feeling it I am moving to a milder soap however in the meantime I will just wash it with water and will not use any creams just allow it to heal

The exact same thing happened to me. I had a yeast infection, took 2 rounds of single dose diflucan, then a week long of fluconazole. Yeast gone but symptoms still around. My obgyn tested and by came back positive. Did metrogel for 4 days and became very irritated and inflamed. Dr prescribed flagy for 7 days. I still have the burning afyer urination along with irritation and inflammation. All tests negative for Yeast, BV, and stds. Another appt in a few days to see what else we can test for.

Is yours constant or does it come and go? Mine has been constant for the past 2 months. I was on my period and the symptoms seemed to subside a little but as soon as my flow lessened the symptoms come back. Dr appt on Monday. I will repost with whatever info Dr gives me. What have you been tested for?

I have also had the same situation going on. Vaginal itching and burning for a month now. I get frequent yeast infections so when it started it seemed to be just that as I had the discharge as well. I had also had unprotected sex with someone new and the last time I was with him I got a yeast infection as well. I treated the yeast infection with Canesten oral Twice and the canesten 3 day once and the yeast and discharge went away but the itching and burning didn't. The doc tested me for BV, Yeast, STD's all came back negative. She said I might have had Contact dermititis from an allergic reaction to a new razor I used. I used a steroid cream for a week and it didnt work. So she prescribed something stronger and I used that for two days and it seemed to help but it was burning me even more. I went back and saw a different doc who examined me and said it seemed that the skin between the labia split and was healing but everything else looked fine. She said she thought I had lechin Sclerosus due to the frequent yeast infections. This is a disease that usually happens to women who are post menopausal, however, I just turned 40 and I haven't started going through menopause. She gave me a corticosteroid to use. I have been using it for 2 weeks and although it does seem a little better I feel like I am getting flare ups every so often. I now have asked my doc to refer me to a gyno for a second opinion to make sure this is what I have. It has not been easy to deal with and I honestly thought I had caught something from the new guy. He went and got tested for STD's as well just to ease my mind thank god. Im still scared after dealing with all this. I wish it would just go away...:( I hope everyone finds answers and shares their experiences to bring awarness to this type of thing because it doesnt seem to be highly recognized maybe because enough ppl are too embarrassed to talk about it??? Best of luck to everyone and any help and input is greatly appreciated! xo
