I find myself experiencing severe burning in my genital region multiple times a week, usually at night. If I take an extra strength over the counter UTI pill, the symptoms usually disappear.... for that day.
I've been to multiple doctors about this and always test negative for UTIs, yeast infections, etc. I had a full STI panel and came back positive for HSV 1, although I have never shown any physical symptoms of an outbreak.
The pain seems to have no correlation to urination, menstrual cycle, or sex (not currently sexually active).
At this point, I am at my wit's end. Doctors seem to think I'm crazy and everyone else thinks it's in my head. This is a horribly discouraging journey, but your stories give me hope!

I unfortunately have this unwelcoming problem. I was tired of taking antibiotics as a solution so I researched a natural remedy to help with the burning around the vulva. It's called D-MANOOSE, I got it from healthy planet. D-MANOOSE is the active ingredient in cranberry juice that helps with utis and bladder infections. It's worth a try for some peace. It has helped me a lot and I tell everyone about it so that women do not have to suffer with this life altering issue. I also sometimes put 100% coconut oil down there. I hope this helps. Let me know!

Hi y'all. I'm a 34yo female, history of UTIs about every year or every couple years since I was in high school.
I thought I was getting a cold and a UTI back in December 2017 so I began my usual Azo, echinacea, grapefruit extract, acidophilus, and a few other vitamins that I take daily anyway.
I never got the cold, but the irritation down below never went away. It wasn't like a normal UTI. I didn't get the urgency or frequency. I had a burning that was constant near/on my urethra EXCEPT when urinating, and bladder pain. I did research and thought maybe I had interstitial cystitis.
Finally I couldn't take it and went to my gyno. She said I had a little discharge (which was news to me) and diagnosed me with BV. She gave me a one time cream to insert, and Uribel to calm my bladder. We both thought the BV was causing my urethral pain.
After the cream and the Uribel my symptoms were still there. The Uribel worked ok, but only when I was taking it. It didn't cure anything.
My symptoms began to lessen, but I could tell something was still off.
Maybe it was a transient bacteria that just needed time to clear out.
I did MORE research on interstitial cystitis and found a natural way to help it. MARSHMALLOW ROOT! In interstitial cystitis it is supposed to promote mucous that will coat your bladder and prevent or cure the tears that cause burning. It really helped! But again, not sure if that's what was wrong with me.
I read more about IC and found that people were reporting a weird bacteria (e. Coli, etc) that can hide in the walls of the bladder and no matter how many rounds or the strength of antibiotics, it won't kill it.
It could also be pelvic floor dysfunction. That as well causes IC. There are exercises to relax the muscles. I HAVE been quite stressed lately, so maybe that could've been it....
I went back to my gyno in March 2018 because it was still nagging me and she couldn't find anything on the surface, my urine was normal. She hadn't heard of marshmallow root BTW. I did blood work for my liver and kidneys. Sometimes symptoms of IC are from kidney stones. Blood came back normal. Also, I told her that I had been pretty much abstinent since December because I was afraid of irritating things or passing some kind of infection back and forth between my husband and me. She seemed SHOCKED! LOL I am married and have been with my husband for over 20 years (we're high school sweethearts, only married for 13 years).
So she gave me an estrogen cream to dab a teeny but of on the opening of my urethra, and a probiotic sample. I didn't use either.
Then I found PINE BARK EXTRACT. It MUST be from the pinus pinaster strain. It is anti bacterial, anti viral, anti EVERYTHING. It's also good for respiratory problems like COPD. It may even CURE herpes! Both my husband and I get cold sores. I've gotten 2 in the last year and ALWAYS feel like one is going to pop up any day. He only gets one every few years and it's teeny tiny.
Now THIS I think it's my life saver. I take one a day at night so my body can use it while I'm sleeping and get the full benefits.
I also found OLIVE LEAF EXTRACT. I can't really tell if it's working but it can't hurt.
I also quit drinking alcohol. I used to drink a few IPAs a day, but wasn't sure if it was making my urine acidic and dehydrating me. I used pH strips to test my urine and I was around 6-6.5. Beer also made the pain in my bladder come back. Like, I would feel like I was getting a UTI. One day when I thought I was good to go, I had some red wine and within the next few hours I was in pain again. Bladder and urethra. So I drink a lot of water every day (I TRY to shoot for 100oz a day), but caffeine doesn't affect me, so I'll have coffee a few times a week, unsweet tea at restaurants, or a few sips of soda.
I REALLY hope all this info helps someone. It's awful having pains and problems and not having answers. The internet is a great place, but sometimes all we want is an easy answer. Research is key.... Read read read!

So I made suppositories with coconut oil, melaleuca and lavender oils. I inserted one every night before bed and wore a panty liner. That worked GREAT! It's good for treating yeast infections and maybe even BV.
The funny thing was when I went to my gyno the second time, she could see those ingredients on the slide when she did my exam. So if you go to the doctor, stop using it for a couple days or longer so it all leaves the area.
And just got more clarification, I have had a hysterectomy so I don't have periods anymore.
If anyone has a reply to me, just call me K.
There are so many "guests" on this board lol

The Dr’s basically shrug their shoulders and send you on your way. I found that a product called “kalao” helped me a lot. It’s a vaginal all natural suppository. Very soothing!
Sadly, I still don’t know what the cause is. There’s not much research out there from what I can find. It remains a vagina mystery I suppose. Anyone going through this, I know you’re struggle. You are NOT alone and I feel like there are more women that have this “mystery” ailment than we know. It’s something we don’t talk about and suffer in silence with. Anyone who reads this, I hope you find healing and whatever works for you!
