I get this in both eyes, but usually one at a time.  Sometimes it lasts a couple minutes and sometimes it lasts days.  I have had this for a couple decades and haven't figured out how to stop it completely.

I read several medical papers on it which were written in the past decade.  It is called spontaneous vascular pulsing or something like that.  It happens in around 80% of all people.  Oddly enough, I personally found that only 8% of doctors (PCP, Internal Medicine, Family Physician) know what it is.  So for anyone who is getting answers like 'tumor' or something that sounds bad from their doctor - ask someone else or do your own research.

Can be caused by stress, lack of sleep, high blood pressure, low blood pressure, too much caffeine, too little caffeine (withdrawal), lack of vitamins, drug which contract your blood vessels, drugs which dilate your blood vessels, eye strain caused by bright lighting and/or computer monitors, or a pulmonary disease or condition.   For most people, the primary factors seem to be stress, lack of sleep, lack of vitamins, too much caffeine; in that order.  For me, more sleep and alcohol (or anything which dilates blood vessels) seems to help – both of which doesn’t help me have a productive day in order to reduce my stress, heh.

Get more sleep, eat your veggies, take B vitamins, watch the eye strain. If anyone has better solutions I would love to know how to get rid of this.

I am having the same thing under my left eye bag for 2 weeks now. Did you find out what it was and did it stop?

Pretty much everything is fine except for this last issue …My left face at times sometimes has just a slight sensation, right around my left eye or mainly my upper cheek. I mean there is absolutely no pain or aggravation. Just this slight tightness or preasure or may even be described as when you go out in the sun and you get a tan and you walk into the shade you can still feel the sun on your face. Maybe something like that. It is extremely mild. I am just wondering if it is Sinuses or an Aggravated nerve.I have been to the Doctor about it and he says that it is Sinuses and that I should take a really hot shower and then bend over in the Shower and let my sinuses drain. I have recently gone to a Allergy Clinic and got tested for everything that I would be allergic to and found out that I am extremely allergic to grass and some weeds.I am sneezing a lot, and do feel maybe a little dry around the eyes. You can check all my other posts. I have been checked 3 ways to Sunday on everything, and everything has come back fine. The only thing I have not had done is an MRI.Well please let me know what you think? Any comments would be appreciated …P.S. I did read in another thread is that I could just have a dry face, and one person put lotion on their face and felt a lot better. Thanks!

Face: Left of face feels like there is a slight sensation around my upper left cheek and possibly left side of nose or eye. It is extremely faint almost like there is just a piece of paper on my face or like the feeling you get when you go outside and get a sun tan and go back inside but yet you can still feel the sun on your face for a little bit. If I rub my face it goes away a little bit but then sometimes comes back. It comes and goes, like sometimes I won’t notice it for days and sometimes it comes back. Not really sure how else to describe it, except for maybe eye strain or never in my Neck or Back that is aggravating my face. Or could it be anxiety or stress? Back: This one has not been around for a couple of weeks now but it is a slighter stronger pressure on my left lower back torso area. Again just like some pressure is there but absolutely no pain. Just feels like something is there but it is not. Maybe right around the ribs, near the back more than the front but then sometimes feels lower and just purely on my left side on the torso. Results: I have had several and I mean several blood tests done, looked at by all kind of Doctors, and everyone says that I am fine. I have had a CT done of my stomach and abdomen and it just said that I was constipated. Ideas: The only thing I can think of is there is a never in my back or neck that is aggravated and it is aggravating the nerves in my left face and left torso. Or it can be allergies for the face and a nerve for the back. Thoughts: Anyone have any thoughts or ideas of what this can be? Is this just a product of getting older? Feeling weird sensations here and there for months that go away at times? Help: Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

UPDATE: Ok I am not sure if this helps or not, but I no longer have the weird feeling in my left torso, that is gone. The only feeling that I have left is the weird sensation right on the left side of my nose and possibly sometimes below my left eye. It comes and go. If I put an eye patch on my left eye I do not feel the sensation. So I am thinking it is eye strain or that it is just pressure from the patch distracting the other sensation. I just went for a walk and I really didn’t feel it. So I think it might only come when I look down at the computer screen or watch TV. I mean how are you suppose to know when you need glasses? I mean I can still read the words but is it just harder for me to do so now? I recently moved a very heavy flat screen and put it on my shoulder/back, have been studying a lot by looking down and on the computer, and have been watching TV until like 4 in the morning sometimes. I think this might be related to my Shoulders or middle back or upper neck but I am not sure. Can a pinched nerve affect facial muscles? PLEASE HELP ME ANY WAY THAT YOU CAN!

I was wondering if you ever found out what was causing this or found any more information about it. I really think it might be Sinus’s or Eye Strain. I have the same thing off and on. I recently ran into some serious stress and was taking many exams and staying up extremely late not even going to bed studying. Also watching a ton of TV trying to de stress. So I think I wore out my left eye area. It is mainly near my left part of my nose or below and around my left eye. Also I do not think it is only strain. I think it has to do with allergies. I have severe allergies sometimes from what my Allergist told me. I finally started to take Allegra and Flownase like my Doctor told me and I have noticed a difference. I have also been trying to catch up on a lot of sleep. I still feeling a little here and there but it is a little less impactful so I think I am on the right track. I just do not know for sure Any of you figure anything out?

Essentially it can mean that your calcium level is low and your adrenal glands might be messed up.

I am having a constant pulse near my eye and when I saw my eye in the mirror I could see the pulse clearly. It has been around 3 days and it has started freaking me out.

I know I'm kinda late but I'll tell my opinion , Well Idk basically what's this is , but I think you should see an eye doctor coz these signs might tell you that you've been hard on ur eyes it needs rest and its time for you to wear glasses , coz it happenes when you stay long time on computer focusing or any device or even in work or studying ..

I promised myself to come back to these webpages if I find an answer for this problem. So here I am. More than a year ago the vein under my right eye started to pulse and didn't stop for almost two months. Then it started again same year and pulsed continuously for a month. Since then I deal with this problem, it comes and goes. Finally I figured out the problem. Somehow I am not able to tolerate carbs. Whenever I eat carbs rich foods, I start to have either shortness of breath or pulsing under my eye. I didn't realized this pattern until I cut off all the grains and carbs (paleo diet) over a month. Since then whenever I ate carbs rich food, I have this problem. I hope this will help to some people.

so how long did you have to control carbs before it went away? it's interesting to me because i was gluten free for years, and began eating bread again recently. Aside from other issues I've noted, under my left eye, there has been a pulsing, for two days.
